Innovative Strategies for
Sustainable Livelihoods for People
with Disabilities: Gaining Global
Perspective
As a part of the Disabled Persons’
International (DPI) Global Summit held
in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in September
2004, the International Labour Organization
(ILO) and GLADNET worked
together to gather the most innovative
ideas from around the world to share with
others in the Global Village exhibits and
also on three workshops on strategies
to promote sustainable livelihoods
for indigenous people, women, and
youth with disabilities. The GLADNET
Association, affiliated with the ILO
Disability and Work Programme, brings
together research centers, universities,
government departments, trade unions,
and organizations of and for persons
with disabilities and is chaired by ILR’s
