Back in 2007 a DNA test was done on Hugh Thomas Hoskins (that's me - b.1936), and the first 12
markers were evaluated. Another researcher, Tony Hoskins of Guerneville, Ca., with whom we've
been in discussion for many years, also had his done; we matched 8 out of the 12 markers, which
seemed like a fete, but apparently means very little in genealogy.
This year a greater set of 67 markers were evaluated. While waiting for those results, I was
contacted by a Greg Hoskins of Fredericksburg, Va., who said that he had been informed by the lab
that his and my 12 markers were identical. Likely he is descended from Thomas Hoskinson, Jr.
Anyone interested in such tests/evaluations would be well advised to order a testing kit (mouth swab

There have been 4 generations of ancestors added above "our" Josiah Hoskinson (b.1759).
The documentation was found in the research works of a David Hoskins of Texas, as see at ...

where the morphing of the name from the earlier Hodge (possibly even Roger) is discussed.

There is very similar research noted in the LDS's Pedigree Resource File where he is listed as a
descendant of John Hodgkinson on DVD/Disc#142/Pin#4796959 submitted by Tammy Goin Cone,
much of which came from David's work.
David's research references a Josiah Hoskinson who was b.1764 in Maryland as a great-greatgrandson
of John Hodgkinson.
We know that "our" Josiah was b.1759 in Maryland.
Whereas ...
.- David's dating was an estimate/guess
- The ref'd Josiah's siblings have many of the same names that "our" Josiah gave to his children,
which was tradition/custom in those days.
.- David's research list NO children for the ref'd Josiah.
.- no one else has "claimed" the ref'd Josiah as their ancestor in any work that we have found
Therefore ..
.- we "claim" him as ours as noted in the large italicized bold entry in the accompanying chart.
Two other Josiahs are also in bold on the chart -- strictly for reference/correlation, as they might be
found discussed in other works. One of them is a 1-st cousin to "ours".
