The Int"ior Department War Work Committee
wi.~hes to give its warmest thanks to
those who ha"e so generously contributed to
its suppo,t during the past year. The work
has increased steadily since ~!ay 1st. 1917.
and it is the earnest wish tbat it may continue
to increase as long as the war lasts.
We have put twenty heds in the American
~Iilitary Hospital at Xeuilly. France. Fourteen
of these and a large amount of our
fund~ came from Alaska. We have sent
I axes of all kinds of !(arments to thoroughly
equip and care for the wounded in those
teds, as w,·11 as to other hospitals.
The Surgical Dressings Committee or­
!(anized by )liss Coons and Miss Alden have
made and sent thousands of dressings. And
in addition we ha\'e sent boxes of sterile
t-andages, uncut ~auze and a'::sor~ent cotton
to re made up in Europe.
We have outfitted "ith sweaters. helmets.
s()('ks and other articles 519 of our own men,
and we h&ve sent hundreds of sweaters,
wristlets. helmets and hand-knit socks to
soldiers at different camps who wele leavjn~
for France and who had not been outfitted.
The Layette Committee under )liss )Ic­
Gowan has sent many complete layettes.
On Bellliall Flower Day we sold throughout
the Depanrrent in Washington $550 worth
of fOl"l!et-me-nots, and we also collected $400
for the movable ho each man'~ life there comes a tiDlt '
preme."
