Loquasto has won numerous<br />

awards for his designs including<br />

Tony Awards in 1977, 1989<br />

and 1990 and the Drama Desk<br />

Award in 1989 and 1990.<br />

Among his extensive list <strong>of</strong><br />

nomina<strong>ti</strong>ons are Academy<br />

Award nomina<strong>ti</strong>ons for designs<br />

in Woody Allen’s Bullets Over<br />

Broadway, Radio Days and<br />

Zelig. Recent New York theatre<br />

designs include Wai<strong>ti</strong>ng for<br />

Godot, Fences, Wit and<br />

Assembled Par<strong>ti</strong>es.<br />

Robert Thomson<br />

Ligh<strong>ti</strong>ng Designer,<br />

<strong>The</strong>me and Varia<strong>ti</strong>ons<br />

Robert Thomson is one <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Canada</strong>’s most prolific and<br />

versa<strong>ti</strong>le ligh<strong>ti</strong>ng designers.<br />

He has received numerous<br />

awards over his 35-year career<br />

including a Sterling Award,<br />

four Dora Mavor Moore<br />

Awards and the pres<strong>ti</strong>gious<br />

Siminovitch Prize in <strong>The</strong>atre<br />

for 2012. For <strong>The</strong> Na<strong>ti</strong>onal<br />

<strong>Ballet</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Canada</strong>, Mr. Thomson<br />

served as Resident Ligh<strong>ti</strong>ng<br />

Designer for 12 seasons. His<br />

numerous designs include<br />

<strong>The</strong> Taming <strong>of</strong> the Shrew,<br />

Romeo and Juliet, Manon,<br />

Swan Lake, <strong>The</strong> Miraculous<br />

Mandarin and Spring Awakening.<br />

Over 12 consecu<strong>ti</strong>ve seasons<br />

at the Stratford Fes<strong>ti</strong>val his<br />

designs include Cymbeline,<br />

Much Ado About Nothing,<br />

<strong>The</strong> Homecoming, Dangerous<br />

Liaisons, Romeo and Juliet,<br />

Caesar and Cleopatra and<br />

King Lear. During his 24<br />

seasons at the Shaw Fes<strong>ti</strong>val<br />

(10 as Head <strong>of</strong> Ligh<strong>ti</strong>ng Design),<br />

Mr. Thomson is credited on<br />

more than 55 produc<strong>ti</strong>ons.<br />

Mr. Thomson designed the<br />

Canadian Opera Company’s<br />

globally acclaimed Bluebeard's<br />

Castle and Erwartung, directed<br />

by Robert Lepage, with recent<br />

moun<strong>ti</strong>ngs for Seattle Opera<br />

and Opéra de Québec. He<br />

has worked with a diverse<br />

range <strong>of</strong> Canadian companies,<br />

including the Na<strong>ti</strong>onal Arts<br />

Centre, Canadian Stage,<br />

Manitoba <strong>The</strong>atre Centre,<br />

Citadel <strong>The</strong>atre, <strong>The</strong>atre<br />

Aquarius, Tarragon <strong>The</strong>atre<br />

and <strong>The</strong> Segal <strong>The</strong>atre and<br />

Centaur <strong>The</strong>atre. Interna<strong>ti</strong>onally,<br />

his designs have been featured<br />

at Lincoln Center <strong>The</strong>ater,<br />

Goodman <strong>The</strong>atre, Hartford<br />

Stage, American <strong>Ballet</strong><br />

<strong>The</strong>ater, Boston <strong>Ballet</strong> and<br />

Stuttgart <strong>Ballet</strong>.<br />

David Briskin<br />

Music Director and<br />

Principal Conductor<br />

One <strong>of</strong> the foremost ballet<br />

conductors at work today,<br />

David Briskin is renowned<br />

for the scope <strong>of</strong> his repertoire<br />

and the depth and beauty <strong>of</strong><br />

his interpreta<strong>ti</strong>ons. Whether in<br />

the classical or contemporary<br />

idiom, from works steeped<br />

in tradi<strong>ti</strong>on to cut<strong>ti</strong>ng edge<br />

modern composi<strong>ti</strong>ons, Mr.<br />

Briskin brings a sure hand and<br />

a sensi<strong>ti</strong>ve understanding to<br />

the drama<strong>ti</strong>c and choreographic<br />

life <strong>of</strong> the music he conducts.<br />

Before joining <strong>The</strong> Na<strong>ti</strong>onal<br />

<strong>Ballet</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Canada</strong> in 2006, Mr.<br />

Briskin served as conductor<br />

with American <strong>Ballet</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre<br />

in New York City for seven<br />

years, direc<strong>ti</strong>ng performances<br />

at the Metropolitan Opera<br />

House, City Center and<br />

numerous ballet and opera<br />

houses around the world. In<br />

demand as a guest conductor,<br />

Mr. Briskin has worked most<br />

recently with such companies<br />

as New York City <strong>Ballet</strong> and<br />

San Francisco <strong>Ballet</strong>. He<br />

recently made his debut at<br />

Covent Garden in London<br />

conduc<strong>ti</strong>ng <strong>The</strong> Royal <strong>Ballet</strong>.<br />

He has appeared with <strong>The</strong><br />

J<strong>of</strong>frey <strong>Ballet</strong> <strong>of</strong> Chicago,<br />

Houston <strong>Ballet</strong>, Les Grands<br />

<strong>Ballet</strong>s Canadiens de Montréal<br />

and Alberta <strong>Ballet</strong>, among<br />

others. For three seasons,<br />

Mr. Briskin served as Music<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> Pittsburgh <strong>Ballet</strong><br />

<strong>The</strong>atre and was Conductor<br />

for <strong>The</strong> Juilliard School’s<br />

Dance Division from 1993<br />

to 2005. In 2008, Mr. Briskin<br />

was appointed Assistant<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor and Director <strong>of</strong><br />

Orchestral Studies at the<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Toronto Faculty<br />

<strong>of</strong> Music. Mr. Briskin’s<br />

versa<strong>ti</strong>lity has also seen him<br />

conduct symphony and opera<br />

produc<strong>ti</strong>ons throughout the<br />

Americas, Europe and Asia,<br />

with such orchestras as the<br />

Pittsburgh, Detroit, Bal<strong>ti</strong>more,<br />

Indianapolis and Windsor<br />

Symphony Orchestras, the<br />

Shanghai Symphony Orchestra<br />

and the Na<strong>ti</strong>onal Symphony<br />

Orchestra <strong>of</strong> Costa Rica, and<br />

with such opera companies<br />

as Calgary Opera, Manitoba<br />

Opera, Opera Carolina, Lake<br />

George Opera and Sarasota<br />

Opera. In addi<strong>ti</strong>on, he served<br />

for six years as Music Director<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Masterwork Chorus<br />

and Orchestra in New York.<br />

Mr. Briskin attended the<br />

pres<strong>ti</strong>gious Indiana University<br />

School <strong>of</strong> Music and received<br />

a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Music Degree<br />

in orchestral conduc<strong>ti</strong>ng from<br />
