To authorize certain complaints<br />
to <strong>the</strong> Assessment Review Board<br />
Section 40 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Assessment Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.A.31 permits a<br />
municipality to complain in writing to <strong>the</strong> Assessment Review Board, that it or<br />
ano<strong>the</strong>r person was assessed incorrectly, was wrongly placed on or omitted from<br />
<strong>the</strong> assessment roll and/or was wrongly on or omitted from <strong>the</strong> roll in respect <strong>of</strong><br />
school support.<br />
The Council <strong>of</strong> The Corporation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Brampton</strong> has determined that it is<br />
in <strong>the</strong> interest <strong>of</strong> The Corporation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Brampton</strong> to file complaints with <strong>the</strong><br />
Assessment Review Board respecting <strong>the</strong> assessments described in this by-law.<br />
NOW THEREFORE, <strong>the</strong> Council <strong>of</strong> The Corporation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Brampton</strong><br />
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:<br />
1 . Complaints to <strong>the</strong> Assessment Review Board respecting <strong>the</strong> assessments <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> persons and properties described in Schedule A to this by-law are<br />
hereby authorized.<br />
2. The Commissioner <strong>of</strong> Financial and Information Services and Treasurer or<br />
Director <strong>of</strong> Revenue or <strong>the</strong> Supervisor, Assessment and Tax Policy or <strong>the</strong><br />
Assessment Review Analyst are hereby authorized to sign on behalf <strong>of</strong> The<br />
Corporation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Brampton</strong>, <strong>the</strong> complaints authorized by section 1<br />
<strong>of</strong> this by-law.<br />
3. <strong>City</strong> staff are hereby authorized to attend any hearings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Assessment<br />
Review Board, or any court, arising out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> complaints authorized by<br />
section 1 <strong>of</strong> this by-law.
