Jay, as most people knew
him, grew up and received his
education at Crane, Missouri. He
served his country in the United
States Army and returned back
to Missouri where he had been
a life-long resident. Jay was a
supervisor for Tyson Foods until
his retirement in 1989. He was
an avid bowler who also enjoyed
working with wood, fishing and
hunting.
Graveside services with
military honors will be held at
2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October
19, 2010, in IOOF Cemetery,
Monett, Missouri, under the
direction of Fohn Funeral Home,
Cassville, Missouri.
Contributions in memory of
Jay may be made to St. John’s
Hospice in care of the funeral
home.

Dennis Blair
Haygood
Dennis Blair Haygood, Galena,
MO, was born September 7,
1943 in Anchorage, AK and
departed this life October 14,
2010 at Cox Medical Center
South, Springfield, MO, at the
age of 67.
Dennis had lived in the area
since 1980 coming from Jurupa,
CA. He was a captain for Ride
the Ducks. Dennis loved working
for Ride the Ducks and especially
enjoyed visiting with the many
tourists he met. He played Santa
for a number of Christmas events
and enjoyed helping people in
the community. Dennis was of
the Baptist faith.
Dennis was preceded in death
by his parents and wife, Judith.
Survivors include two sons,
William Paul Meredith of
Riverside, CA and Mark Mead
Meredith of Englewood, FL;
one daughter, Lori Gomez
of Crane, MO; one brother,
Gary Haygood of Kilgore,
TX; five grandchildren, Crysta
Gomez, Jason Gomez, Karrsa
Kieso, Montanna Meredith and
Sienna Meredith; one greatgranddaughter,
Elizabeth Kieso
and a host of other relatives and
friends.
No services are planned.
Cremation was under the
direction of Manlove-Stumpff
Funeral Home, Crane.

Ira Wilbur
Tillman
Ira Wilbur Tillman, Galena,
MO, son of Frank and Myrtle
Tillman was born June 18, 1923
near Conway, MO and departed
this life, October 17, 2010, in his
home at the age of 87.
Mr. Will was converted in 1937
at Happy Home Presbyterian
Church. He had informed his
family; he had everything taken
care of and was ready to go home
to be with the Lord.
Mr. Will was preceded in death
by his parents; daughter, Delores
Ann at the age of 6 weeks and two
brothers, Clovis and Freeman.
Survivors include: his wife,
Geri; six sons, Richard Tillman
and wife, Shirley of Kimberling
City, Michael Tillman and
wife, Brenda of Grand Prairie,
Texas, Jerry Dean Tillman of
Springfield; A. W. Tillman and
wife, Karen of Porter, Texas,
James Tillman and wife, Mary of
Springfield and Charles Tillman
of Springfield; three daughters,
Myrtle Lemaster and husband,
Bobby of Springfield, twin
daughters, Wilma Trantham and
husband, Jimmy of Springfield
and Willa Goodman and husband,
Bobby of Springfield; one stepson,
Dwayne Riddle and wife,
Ronda of Stockton, CA; two
step-daughters, Debbie Riddle
of Lovington, New Mexico
and Betty Calahan of Galena;
24 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren
and a host of other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at
2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October
20, 2010 at Manlove-Stumpff
Chapel, Crane with J. W. Oneal
and David Berryhill officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Park
Cemetery, Springfield under the
direction of Stumpff Funeral
Homes.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home.

Funeral services for Mrs.
Bertha Hammonds, of
Urbana, Missouri, formally of
Marionville, Missouri, will be
at 2 O’clock p.m. Wednesday,
October 20, 2010 in the
Crossroads church, with burial
to follow in the Nolan Cemetery,
near Galena, Missouri, under the
direction of the Williams Funeral
Home of Marionville, Mo.
Visitation will be in the
Crossroads Church from 1
O’clock p.m. Wednesday, until
service time.
Bertha Clara Edith, was born
to James and Leona Bell Perkins
Breckenridge, on October 20,
1925, in Stone County, Missouri
and she passed away at 2:26 a.m.
Friday, October 15, 2010 in the
Colonial Springs Nursing Home
in Buffalo, Missouri, after a short
illness.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Rovin Hammonds,
on March 28, 1983 her parents
and 11 brothers and sisters, and a
step grandson, Michael Elliott.
Bertha, is survived by
her daughter and son-inlaw,
Barb and Bill Elliott of
Urbana, Missouri, Grandson,
Michael (Pete) Elliott, Step
Granddaughter, Becky Agnew,
sister, Beulah Winterowd of
Springfield, Missouri, several
nephews and nieces and many
special friends.
Kent Matthew
Wilson
Mr. Kent Matthew Wilson, age
49, of Crane, Mo., passed away
on Sunday, October 17, 2010 in
St. John’s Hospital, Springfield,
Mo. He was born June 1, 1961
in Springfield, Mo., the son of
Lloyd William and Louvina Ivon
(Medlin) Wilson.
He was united in marriage to
Heidi Hoover on July 2, 1994,
and they were blessed with two
children. Kent was Christian,
and a family man, loving to spend
time with his wife and children.
He also enjoyed the outdoors,
hunting, fishing, camping, and
four wheeling.
Kent was employed as a heavy
equipment operator at construction
sites.
His parents; and four brothers,
Homer, Billy Joe, Phillip, and
Lloyd preceded Kent in death.
He is survived by: his wife,
Heidi, and their two children,
Matthew and Shalaina, all of the
home; eight brothers, George,
Benny, Arvy, and Paul, all of
Crane, Stanley of Abesville, James,
of Haynesville, La., and David
and Randy, both of Crane; three
sisters, Mary Deckard and Jewell
Wilson, both of Eugene, Ore., and
Judy Lesure, of Highlandville;
and many other relatives and close
friends.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at
Meadors Funeral Home in Clever.
Funeral services will be held at
2:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral
home, with Pastor Rick Washam
officiating. Burial followed in Mt.
Carmel Cemetery, Clever. Online

Kenny Kyle Grissom, Galena,
MO, son of Herbert and Ada
(Perry) Grissom was born
November 9, 1940 in Kingsport,
TN and departed this life October
17, 2010, in his home, at the age
of 69.

Kenny Grissom, Jr. and Jimmy
Grissom both of CA; one
daughter, Shelly Grissom of FL;
