Loretta Mae Cox, age 68, of<br />
Nixa, passed away in her home<br />
Friday, October 15, 2010. She<br />
was born December 4, 1941<br />
in <strong>Stone</strong> <strong>County</strong>, Missouri, the<br />
daughter of Floyd and Alice<br />
(Grisham) Greenway.<br />
Loretta graduated from Galena<br />
High School in 1959. She was<br />
united in marriage to Tim Cox<br />
on December 10, 1960. She was<br />
a homemaker & also worked in<br />
the Wal-Mart Supercenter Nixa<br />
bakery for 13 years, she was a<br />
member of Ponce Pentecostal<br />
<strong>Church</strong>.<br />
Survivors include: her husband,<br />
Tim Cox, Nixa; six sisters,<br />
Betty & Larry Clines, Springfield,<br />
Joyce & Ralph Bradford, Galena,<br />
Karen Henry, Spokane, Marilyn<br />
Greenway, Nixa, Barbara & Stan<br />
Inman, Claremore, Oklahoma,<br />
and Donna Kimberling, Galena;<br />
one grandchild, Jamie Anderson;<br />
& two great-grandchildren; & a<br />
host of friends.<br />
She was preceded in death<br />
by her parents; two sons, Kevin<br />
Gene Cox and Timmy Cox; one<br />
sister, Lois Scott.<br />

Lloyd W. Scherlin, Kimberling<br />
City, MO, passed away October<br />
14, 2010, in his home, at the age<br />
of 80.<br />
Lloyd was born April 9,<br />
1930 on the family farm near<br />
Bloomfield, Nebraska. At the age<br />
of 4 his family moved to Omaha,<br />
Nebraska, where he began school<br />
at Central of Omaha. Shortly<br />
thereafter, the family moved to<br />
Des Moines, Iowa where Lloyd<br />
graduated from North High<br />
School in 1948. After graduation<br />
he worked general construction<br />
and farming jobs until being<br />
drafted into the United States<br />
Army in 1951. Lloyd served in<br />
an artillery unit in Korea and was<br />
honorably discharged in 1953.<br />
In 1957 he married Marlys Mally<br />
and to this union three children<br />
were born. Lloyd received a<br />
Bachelor of Science degree in<br />
Civil Engineering from Iowa<br />
State University in 1959. After<br />
graduation he was employed<br />
by the Iowa Department of<br />
Transportation from 1959-1964.<br />
He then served as O’Brien<br />
<strong>County</strong> Engineer in Primghar,<br />
Iowa for 30 years, retiring in<br />
1995. During those years he also<br />
owned and operated Scherlin<br />
Land Surveying and performed<br />
property surveys throughout<br />
Northwest Iowa. In 1997 he<br />
married Sandy Salzkorn. After<br />
relocating to Missouri, he<br />
worked for Herschend Family<br />
Entertainment from 2003-2009.<br />
Lloyd loved the outdoors –<br />
surveying, piloting his airplane,<br />
playing golf, boating, bicycling,<br />
snowmobiling and hiking. He<br />
enjoyed meeting people, loved<br />
to work in his yard and he loved<br />
his pets.<br />
Lloyd was preceded in death<br />
by his parents, Alphonse and<br />
Jennie Bryce Scherlin and his<br />
sister, Wilma.<br />
Survivors include: his wife,<br />
Sandy of Kimberling City;<br />
daughter, Linda Miller of Cape<br />
Girardeau, Missouri; son, John<br />
Scherlin and wife, Jenifer of<br />
Casper, Wyoming; daughter,<br />
Lori McDonald of Jamestown,<br />
California; step-daughter,<br />
Brooke Fiddelke and husband,<br />
Aaron of Primghar, Iowa; stepson,<br />
Heath Salzkorn of Glendale,<br />
Arizona; 11 grandchildren, Adam<br />
Miller, Carissa Miller, Samantha<br />
Scherlin, Michael Scherlin,<br />
Trevor Scherlin, David Duarte,<br />

18, 2010 at Stumpff Chapel-<br />
South, Kimberling City, Missouri<br />
with Ralph White officiating.<br />
Inurnment will be at 1:00 p.m. at<br />
the Missouri Veterans Cemetery<br />
in Springfield, Missouri.<br />
Visitation will be from 10:00<br />
to service time Monday at the<br />
funeral home.<br />
In lieu of flowers, the family has<br />
requested memorial contributions<br />

life October 13, 2010, in her<br />
daughter’s home, at the age of<br />
73.<br />
Shirley was a lifelong resident<br />
of the area. She owned and<br />
operated Vernon Insurance<br />
Agency in Branson West for<br />
several years. Shirley was<br />
a member of First Christian<br />
<strong>Church</strong> in Kimberling City.<br />
Shirley was preceded in death<br />
by her parents and husband,<br />
Jack.<br />
Survivors include: one son,<br />
Gary Vernon of Nashville, TN;<br />
two daughters, Polly <strong>Stone</strong><br />
and husband, Bill of Reeds<br />
Spring and Suzanne Vernon of<br />

Jessie Richard “Jay” Chambers,<br />
age 74, of Monett, Missouri,<br />
passed away Thursday, October<br />
14, 2010, at his home.<br />
He was born November 14,<br />
1935, in <strong>Crane</strong>, Missouri, the<br />
son of Link and Dora (Mounce)<br />
Chambers. On December 31,<br />
1979, in Monett, Missouri, he<br />
was united in marriage to Norma<br />
L. McPherson, who survives.<br />
Also surviving are one son,<br />
Richard Chambers and his wife,<br />
Hope of Mt. Vernon, Missouri;<br />
two daughters, Denise Leach and<br />
her husband, Ken of Cape Fair,<br />
Missouri and Janet Thompson<br />
and her husband, David of<br />
Aurora, Missouri; one step-son,<br />
Galen Hall and his wife, Mary<br />
of Monett, Missouri; two stepdaughters,<br />
Rowena Spears and<br />
her husband, Chuck of Monett,<br />
Missouri and Regina Vineyard<br />
of Verona, Missouri; one brother,<br />
Gary Chambers of <strong>Crane</strong>,<br />
Missouri; two sisters, Charlene<br />
Jones of Marionville, Missouri<br />
and Cheryl Kelly of <strong>Crane</strong>,<br />
Missouri; ten grandchildren;<br />
nine great grandchildren and two<br />
more great grandchildren on the<br />
way.<br />
He was preceded in death by<br />
his parents, one brother, Linkford
Chambers; three sisters, Frances<br />
Higgins, Beatrice Simpson<br />
and Susan Compton and one<br />
granddaughter, Dawn Spears.<br />
Jay, as most people knew<br />
him, grew up and received his<br />
education at <strong>Crane</strong>, Missouri. He<br />
served his country in the United<br />
States Army and returned back<br />
to Missouri where he had been<br />
a life-long resident. Jay was a<br />
supervisor for Tyson Foods until<br />
his retirement in 1989. He was<br />
an avid bowler who also enjoyed<br />
working with wood, fishing and<br />
hunting.<br />
Graveside services with<br />
military honors will be held at<br />
2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October<br />
19, 2010, in IOOF Cemetery,<br />
Monett, Missouri, under the<br />
direction of Fohn Funeral Home,<br />
Cassville, Missouri.<br />
Contributions in memory of<br />
Jay may be made to St. John’s<br />
Hospice in care of the funeral<br />

Dennis Blair Haygood, Galena,<br />
MO, was born September 7,<br />
1943 in Anchorage, AK and<br />
departed this life October 14,<br />
2010 at Cox Medical Center<br />
South, Springfield, MO, at the<br />
age of 67.<br />
Dennis had lived in the area<br />
since 1980 coming from Jurupa,<br />
CA. He was a captain for Ride<br />
the Ducks. Dennis loved working<br />
for Ride the Ducks and especially<br />
enjoyed visiting with the many<br />
tourists he met. He played Santa<br />
for a number of Christmas events<br />
and enjoyed helping people in<br />
the community. Dennis was of<br />
the Baptist faith.<br />
Dennis was preceded in death<br />
by his parents and wife, Judith.<br />
Survivors include two sons,<br />
William Paul Meredith of<br />
Riverside, CA and Mark Mead<br />
Meredith of Englewood, FL;<br />
one daughter, Lori Gomez<br />
of <strong>Crane</strong>, MO; one brother,<br />

Tillman was born June 18, 1923<br />
near Conway, MO and departed<br />
this life, October 17, 2010, in his<br />
home at the age of 87.<br />
Mr. Will was converted in 1937<br />
at Happy Home Presbyterian<br />
<strong>Church</strong>. He had informed his<br />
family; he had everything taken<br />
care of and was ready to go home<br />
to be with the Lord.<br />
Mr. Will was preceded in death<br />
by his parents; daughter, Delores<br />
Ann at the age of 6 weeks and two<br />
brothers, Clovis and Freeman.<br />
Survivors include: his wife,<br />
Geri; six sons, Richard Tillman<br />
and wife, Shirley of Kimberling<br />
City, Michael Tillman and<br />

She was preceded in death by<br />
her husband, Rovin Hammonds,<br />
on March 28, 1983 her parents<br />
and 11 brothers and sisters, and a<br />
step grandson, Michael Elliott.<br />

Mr. Kent Matthew Wilson, age<br />
49, of <strong>Crane</strong>, Mo., passed away<br />
on Sunday, October 17, 2010 in<br />
St. John’s Hospital, Springfield,<br />
Mo. He was born June 1, 1961<br />
in Springfield, Mo., the son of<br />
Lloyd William and Louvina Ivon<br />
(Medlin) Wilson.<br />
He was united in marriage to<br />
Heidi Hoover on July 2, 1994,<br />
and they were blessed with two<br />
children. Kent was Christian,<br />
and a family man, loving to spend<br />
time with his wife and children.<br />
He also enjoyed the outdoors,<br />
hunting, fishing, camping, and<br />
four wheeling.<br />
Kent was employed as a heavy<br />
equipment operator at construction<br />
sites.<br />
His parents; and four brothers,<br />
Homer, Billy Joe, Phillip, and<br />
Lloyd preceded Kent in death.<br />
He is survived by: his wife,<br />
Heidi, and their two children,<br />
Matthew and Shalaina, all of the<br />
home; eight brothers, George,<br />
Benny, Arvy, and Paul, all of<br />
<strong>Crane</strong>, Stanley of Abesville, James,<br />
of Haynesville, La., and David<br />
and Randy, both of <strong>Crane</strong>; three<br />
sisters, Mary Deckard and Jewell<br />
Wilson, both of Eugene, Ore., and<br />
Judy Lesure, of Highlandville;<br />
and many other relatives and close<br />
