19 Ambassador Hotel/ Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Community Schools Original Myron Hunt/Paul Williams buildings no longer extant; Gonzalez Goodale Architects, 2010 3400 Wilshire Blvd. The icon of Hollywood glamour and nightlife and primary driver of Wilshire Blvd. development in the 1920s, the Ambassador was demolished in 2007 to make way for a school complex. The original white plaster driveway pylons are among the few remnants. Street-side contemporary artwork by May Sun and Richard Wyatt incorporates quotes by RFK, who was assassinated inside the hotel in 1968. 19. Tishman defined both the midcentury design direction and the corporatization of Wilshire with Fortune 500 companies.
