Assistant Professor, University of Vermont (2007-‐2009) I taught community development, social entrepreneurship, marketing, and research methods in the Department of Community Development and Applied Economics. Project Coordinator, Digital Himalaya Project, Cornell University (2004-‐2005) I managed a team of anthropologists and computer programmers building an Internet portal for research on the Himalayas and Tibet including images, interactive maps, and census data, www.digitalhimalaya.com. International Development and Community Planning Positions President, DROKPA (1998-‐present) DROKPA is a 501c3 non-‐profit organization that partners with communities in the Himalayas and Central Asia to catalyze social entrepreneurship and implement grassroots development projects focusing on alternative energy, education, and community health. Consultant, Climate & Development Knowledge Network, UN University (2012-‐present) I led a team of Nepali and international researchers that conducted a case study investigating loss and damages resulting from changes in climate in southeastern Nepal. We are now producing policy recommendations and academic publications based on this research. Consultant, ARD, Inc. (2009-‐present) I am advising a USAID-‐funded community forestry project in Liberia, including the drafting of training manuals and curricula for the national Forestry Training Institute. I was also a senior member of the ARD team that evaluated USAID-‐funded projects in Tibetan areas of China. Consultant, Winrock International (2009-‐2010) I wrote grants, trained staff, planned project implementation, and provided monitoring and evaluation services for Winrock’s USAID-‐funded projects in Tibetan areas of China. Consultant, The Poverty Alleviation Fund (2007, 2008) I monitored TPAF’s rural development projects in the Tibet Autonomous Region (PRC) and evaluated their micro-‐credit loans, resource management training, and capacity building programs. Ecologist, Planning Corporation (1999-‐2002) I consulted on mitigation and restoration of development-‐related activities in southern California including wetland permitting, environmental impact assessments, endangered species monitoring. 2
Consultant, World Wildlife Fund Nepal Program (1994-‐1996) I planned and implemented a community forestry project in the buffer zone of Mt. Everest National Park, as well as wrote grants, drafted management plans for Nepal’s conservation agencies, edited a conservation monograph series, and mapped project sites.
