As Christmas approaches DCO Hunter would like to

Defence Community Organisation (DCO)
DCO provides a range of services to support families separated due to deployment and service reasons.
Please contact the Defence Family Helpline on 1800 624 608 if you would like to receive regular contact
from DCO staff during your family member’s deployment. This contact allows you to ask any questions or
express any concerns you may have, and allows us to inform you of local activities, groups and events and
other support services or community resources you may need. Please note that DCO support cannot be
provided unless requested.
Professional counselling is also available at your local DCO office. This assistance can be accessed by
contacting the Defence Family Helpline. The Defence Family Helpline is available 24/7.
The DCO website www.defence.gov.au/dco contains a range of useful information which can help families
prepare emotionally & practically for the ADF member's time away from the family.
DCO also run a number of programs, such as KidSMART, TeenSMART and FamilySMART, which aim at
building resilience in Defence kids and families. DCO can also help you connect with your local Defence
community through community groups and activities. Information on local groups and programs can be found
at the DCO website and via the Defence Family Helpline.
The Defence Family Helpline ‐ 1800 624 608
The Defence Family Helpline is your first point of call for support, information and connection
with your community. The Defence Family Helpline will connect you with your local DCO team
after completing an assessment of what service you require. The Helpline is available 24‐7 and is
staffed by qualified human services professionals including social workers and psychologists.
You can also email the Helpline on DefenceFamilyHelpline@defence.gov.au
and receive a response within 24 hours.

Part-time Support Worker
Singleton Neighbourhood Centre is currently seeking a support worker to
work 10 hours per week.
Hours of work would be Wednesday and Thursday from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
Experience in Community Services or studying in that field would be an
advantage for this position.
The successful applicant would be expected to be a team player and would
be there to support and work with the current Coordinator.
