The Grass Valley LDK 4000 and 8000 Elite camera systems are the only cameras
available that can capture true progressive HD images natively. While the LDK 4000
Elite is a single-format camera system, the LDK 8000 Elite can instantly switch
between multiple formats and frame rates.

Dockable camera head offers flexibility in
transmission type
Small, lightweight, camera head contains only the optical
pickup and digital image processing electronics. Transmission
type (HD Triax, 3G Triax, or 3G Fiber) is selected by using
interchangable dockable adapters that allow for the greatest
flexibility and cost-effective solutions in multiple applications.

Choice of HD Triax, 3G Triax, or 3G Fiber for
operational flexibility
• The 3G transmission systems offer future-proof and cable-independent transmission solutions. With the 3G twin
base station and the 3G RefleX converter boxes, any combination of triax and fiber cables can be used without any
limitation in the feature set and/or format support for all 1.5G and 3G HD formats. The 2 RU compact base stations
allow for additional equipment capacity inside the limited spaces of an OB van.
• HD triax transmission offers a full-bandwidth solution for all 1.5G HD formats, which allows for ease of incorporation
into triax cabled arenas, stadiums, and venues and offers compatibility with the large installed base of LDK HD triax
camera systems.
• A universal compact adapter is available for special applications that require the most lightweight and compact
camera setups. Such applications include the use of third-party wireless transmitters and cameras on remote heads.

HD-DPM+ imagers and unique shuttering system offer true progressive capture and
accurate color fidelity
HD-DPM+ imagers are different from all competitors’ camera sensors for the following key reasons:
• Progressive frame sampling is the native imaging mode, providing complete frame samples.
• The entire imager surface is used for image sampling – no interline transfer channels that may introduce aliasing
artifacts.
• Unique imager shuttering eliminates vertical smear, there is no measurable vertical smear.
• Native sampling of each HD format provides for accurate image reproduction without the use of electronic format
conversion inside the camera or base station.
• Continuous automatic black balance sampling at the imager surface. There is no need to black balance or black set at
every startup or throughout the production, providing for excellent color consistency.
• LPX dynamic pixel error correction – provided on each imager – continuously checks, compares, and corrects any
pixel imperfections, providing for an error-free picture.

Digital color correction does not require optical filters that reduce sensitivity and
introduce aberrations
• The large dynamic range of the FT-CCD imagers allows for digitally managed color correction inside the camera DSP,
which enables a much more accurate camera response to sampled scenes and offers the same sensitivity over the
full range of the color temperature.
• The LDK 4000/8000 Elite offers the greatest range of color flexibility by allowing operators to choose either a preset
color range or actual sampling of the color scene being viewed.
• Color balance can be preset or can use continuous auto-tracking. In continuous mode, color balance is corrected
throughout the shot.

Extremely flexible camera control system using standard Ethernet with TCP/IP and
low-cost CAT 5 cables
• Standard CAT 5 cables with RJ-45 connectors and standard 10Base-T or 100Base-T Ethernet switches between the
control panels and base station provide for simple integration and system design.
• The LDK Connect gateway offer a unique solution for the integration of third party controls systems into the C2IP
camera control system.
• Camera control panels are lightweight while offering complete access and control to all camera features and
functionality.

Built-in viewfinder tools ease of focusing
• To help find focus faster and more accurately, all LDK 4000/8000 Elite cameras and viewfinders include 2X
viewfinder magnification.
• CRT viewfinders are equipped with a highlight crawler.
• LCD color viewfinders have a 1:1 pixel mode and a multi-colored peaking system.

Cast alloy construction blends light weight with strength and durability and offers a
good weight distribution
• Camera head exterior parts are made from cast alloy material and provide durable construction, while remaining
lightweight.
• Access points include seals around all edges to improve robustness and to keep moisture and contamination outside
the sensitive electronic and optical areas.
• The adjustable shoulder pad, with its maximum front position close to the front of the camera, allows for the best
possible balance for use on the shoulder.
• A variable-speed zoom control, built into the camera hand grip, allows for the best ease of use under difficult
shooting conditions.
