our new surroundings. We climbed up<br />

<strong>the</strong> practice slope and <strong>the</strong>n on up<br />

Surprise Point. It was· marvellous<br />

skiing on hills so smooth, with no<br />

ruts or trees. We were gone till teatime,<br />

4 p.m. After tea we tried <strong>the</strong><br />

ski-tow and had a few rides on <strong>the</strong><br />

practice slope. It was very clear and·<br />

sunny all week, and <strong>the</strong> view was<br />

always breath-taking. Off about 25<br />

snow so white. The skiing was tops,<br />

you could have gone anywhere you<br />

liked. The first ·part was so good that<br />

we climbed it again. I made it <strong>the</strong><br />

second time and that was all; I know<br />

I couldn't have taken ano<strong>the</strong>r step.<br />

We ran right through <strong>the</strong>n on <strong>the</strong><br />

standard run.<br />

I can't tell you what a wonderful<br />

week we had skiing on Brewster, <strong>the</strong><br />

Wow Wow ridges, Twin Cairn and<br />

<strong>the</strong> Monarch Range. You had to be
