Please accept this letter as confirmation of the overwhelming support of our subdivision for the<br />

Special Assessment District to improve our roads. We submitted our signed petitions when we<br />

had the required number of signatures, and wish to confirm with this letter that the neighborhood<br />

is very supportive of the project.<br />

Some of you may be aware that the neighborhood has attempted this project previously, but the<br />

residents were not ready to proceed in sufficient numbers. At the current time, the roads are in<br />

serious disrepair, and a number of us are concerned about safety. I personally circulated<br />

petitions and was very pleased at the level of support.<br />

We understand the respective roles of the <strong>Township</strong> and the County Road Commission, and that<br />

the project has many steps that must be followed according to proper procedure. We do hope<br />

that this project can occur during the <strong>20</strong><strong>10</strong> construction season so that we are not faced with<br />

another year of dangerous roads. We are ready, and we will do whatever we can to support the<br />

<strong>Township</strong>’s effort in helping us improve the roads as soon as possible.<br />

Information Packet:<br />

<strong>Hamburg</strong> <strong>Township</strong> has been approached by residents living along Indianola Road and<br />

Gallagher Boulevard requesting that their roads be repaved under a <strong>Township</strong> financed special<br />

assessment district. Indianola and Gallagher Boulevard, along with the other roads included in<br />

the proposed S.A.D are public roads under the jurisdiction of the Livingston County Road<br />

Commission. This project would consist of the establishment of a road improvement S.A.D. bid<br />

out and constructed under the direction of the Road Commission.<br />

In order to finance this project the <strong>Township</strong> would need to sell bonds with a proposed <strong>20</strong>-year<br />

repayment schedule. The current estimate of cost for the project is approximately<br />

$528,000.00; however, it was based on the <strong>20</strong>09 construction season.<br />

‣ If the <strong>Township</strong> does establish a special assessment district for this project it would not<br />

be possible to begin construction of the proposed road improvements until the spring of<br />

<strong>20</strong>11 (see Outline of Steps) so a new cost estimate will need to be secured by the<br />

Livingston County Road Commission.<br />
