Important Dates
Applications available to all prospective incoming seventh graders.
Deadline for ASB application. Applications must be turned into the Rancho Pico main office no later than
3:30 Friday, March 29 th . If your application is not turned in by this deadline, it will not be accepted.
April 10 th
All eligible students will be contacted by this date with an invitation to attend their interview; you will
be contacted via e-mail that you indicated to above; PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY!

Interviews held at Rancho Pico from 4:00-6:00pm
Final ASB selections will be emailed by 6:30 p.m.
Summer Check-In for 2013-2014 school year
ASB students be present to volunteer and prepare for check-in process.
ASB students are required to assist with Summer Check-In
In applying to be part of the Rancho Pico ASB, please consider the following:
1. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline given.
2. All seventh grade positions will be for a full school year. However, all students selected will be subject to quarterly review.
If any ASB student does not fulfill the requirements of a student leader, that student may be dismissed
from ASB and reassigned a different elective. As an ASB member, you must maintain a 2.5 GPA and not receive
any grade lower than a C- on any report cards.
3. All candidates will be evaluated by a committee of 8 th grade students and Rancho Pico staff members. Selections will be based
upon your application and your interview.
4. Applicants who pass the application screening will be assigned a group interview time. If you are selected to interview,
you are encouraged to dress appropriately ( you will be working in groups on the floor) and arrive on time to your scheduled
interview time.

1. All officers must uphold the high standards of Rancho Pico ASB and represent the school with
dignity, pride and integrity. ASB officers are both leaders and role models. I understand that any
student not maintaining high personal, academic, and behavioral standards both on and off
campus may forfeit his/her office. _____________
2. I understand that my job description may include working to set-up, implement, and clean-up
summer activities, back-to-school night, assemblies, school dances, fundraisers, lunchtime
activities, open house, awards nights, and all other ASB activities. _______________
3. I understand that sometimes the set-up or clean-up of activities on campus may occasionally cause
me to miss all or part of class, and I am still responsible for all the work missed during that time. I
also understand that some activities require working before school, at brunch, at lunch, and
outside of the school day. _______________
4. I understand that as an ASB member my grade is determined by the following: through
completion of student leadership projects, activity planning, attendance, and overall
demonstration and development of character. _______________
5. I understand that I currently must hold an 2.5 GPA (according to the 3 rd quarter report card), and I
agree to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA throughout my term. I understand that failure to maintain a
2.5 GPA or if I receive any grade lower than a C- in any class I will be disqualified from
ASB.____________

Short Answer Questions: Please answer in complete sentences. Please answer these questions on
another sheet of paper with your first and last name.
1. We expect over 50 applicants for approximately ten seventh grade positions. Why should we choose
you?
2. Leaders are born. What leadership qualities do you possess?
3. If we were to ask any adult in your life (excluding family members) to speak honestly about you, who
would give us the most complete picture of who you are?. What would he or she say about you?
4. What do you believe will be the greatest challenge in junior high? How will you overcome this
challenge?
5. What do you believe is the strongest CHARACTER component a person could have and why?
6. What personal qualities do you have that would be beneficial to ASB? How would these qualities help
improve our school? (Are you an artist? Are you a good public speaker? Are you a good party
