SUMMARY OF RESEARCH WORK
1. Summary of the project “An Efficient One-Pot Synthesis of Azidoformates from Alcohols Using
Triphosgene: Synthesis of N1-Carbobenzyloxy Azetidin-2-ones”at National Chemical
Laboratory: -
During this project I had synthesized an azidoformates from alcohols using triphosgene.
And which was utilized in synthesis of N1-Carbobenzyloxy Azetidin-2-ones.This is a noval
route of synthesis of of the ß-Lactums having activity against bacteria.
2. Summary of the project synthesis of analogues of Taxol at Dr.Reddys Oncology research and
development department. -
During this project we have synthesized analogues of 10 DAB III which is a starting material for
the synthesis of taxanes like Docetaxel and Paclitaxel. The principal mechanism of the taxane
class is inhibition of microtubule function. Microtubules are essential to cell division, and taxanes
therefore stop cells from properly dividing. Taxanes are also felt to be radio sensitizing.
3. Summary of the project “Synthesis Camptothecin analogues” at Dr.Reddys Oncology research and
development department. –

Camptothecin is an anti-cancer agent that damages DNA, leading to the destruction of the cell.
Camptothecin affects the activity of the enzyme topoisomerase I, whose normal action is to
cleave, unwind, and relegate DNA. When camptothecin binds to topoisomerase I, it will be able to
cleave but not to relegate DNA. Thereby, camptothecin causes single strand breaks in DNA.The
well known analogues like Irinotecan and Topotecan were synthesized.
4. Summary of the project “Synthesis of Bicalutamide and Letrozole” at Dr.Reddys Oncology research
and development department
Bicalutamide is an oral non-steroidal anti-androgen for prostate cancer. It was first launched in
1995 as a combination treatment (with surgical or medical castration) for advanced prostate
cancer and subsequently launched as monotherapy for the treatment of earlier stages of the disease
5.Letrozole is an oral non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor that has been introduced for the adjuvant
treatment of hormonally responsive breast cancer.
6. presently working on A Toll Like recepotar agoist a naphthyridine derivative synthesis.
