Bailey and the buildings were used as transit stores.<br />

5. <strong>The</strong> Great Hall<br />
Location 1: <strong>The</strong> Great Hall. <strong>The</strong> military subdivided the Great Hall to provide<br />
soldiers with living quarters. Trainee and permanent soldier’s rooms were on the<br />
upper floors and a NAAFI shop, toilets, and washing facilities were on the lower<br />

6. <strong>The</strong> Chapel Royal<br />
Location: <strong>The</strong> Chapel Royal. <strong>The</strong> Chapel Royal was converted into bedrooms<br />
during the <strong>First</strong> <strong>World</strong> <strong>War</strong>.<br />

Return to the Douglas Gardens Education Room<br />
Many of the military buildings in Stirling<br />
Castle were demolished. A large building<br />
once existed in the dry ditch at the entrance<br />
of the Castle. Originally used as a gymnasium<br />
it was converted into a medical inspection facility<br />
during the <strong>First</strong> <strong>World</strong> <strong>War</strong>.<br />
