• <strong>The</strong> display cases are numbered from 5-9.<br />

<strong>The</strong> case numbers match the question<br />

numbers.<br />

• Wall Display 1 is above Display Case 5 and<br />

Wall Display 2 is above Display Case 9.<br />

• Work in small groups, select a case and<br />

answer the questions.<br />

WALL DISPLAY 1 “Newspaper Cuttings”<br />

Go to the back wall and look at the source on the wall above Display Case 5 called<br />

News from the front. Read the article about Private Wright called Heavy<br />

Shelling and then answer the following questions:<br />

a. What were the two named methods that the Germans were using<br />

to attack the Scottish soldiers?<br />

b. How long did the Germans shell the soldiers?<br />

c. How many shells does Private Wright think that the Germans had used?<br />

d. What bit of a shell does Private Wright believe hit him?<br />

DISPLAY CASE 5<br />

Look at the artefacts and read the sources before you answer the following<br />

questions:<br />

a. What saved 2 nd Lt. Charles Laing <strong>War</strong>r’s life?<br />

b. Who used the Kodak Box Camera?<br />

c. Why do think it was unusual to carry a camera during the war?<br />
