Dear Colonial Williamsburg Travelers:
What better way to escape the chill of winter than a journey to the Lesser Antilles, a
chain of islands gracing the warm, clear waters of the Caribbean like outposts of paradise! We
cordially invite you to join us in February 2006 for just such a voyage when we set sail from
Barbados for seven nights aboard the legendary Sea Cloud II.
En route, tour elegant private plantations lovingly restored by their owners, some of
whom will greet us personally. Visit botanical gardens of long standing and swim in the dazzling
water off pristine beaches.
Traveling with us will be well-known landscape designer and architectural historian Patrick
Bowe. Author of Gardens of the Caribbean, Mr. Bowe is a sought-after study leader in both the
United States and Europe.
Begin in Barbados, with its rich British heritage, where we spend three nights at the
lovely beachfront Colony Club Hotel. A specially arranged program features beautifully
maintained botanical gardens and Barbados National Trust properties, including Andromeda
Gardens, Bush Hill and Tyrol Cot, where we have been invited to join local guests for a hosted
lunch. Ports of call include the volcanic island of Nevis; the lush island of Dominica;
sophisticated Martinique; Trinidad, where we visit two private homes with spectacular
gardens; and Grenada, the “Spice Island.”
In the tradition of great sailing yachts of the Golden Age of Travel, Sea Cloud II combines
comfort and a casual atmosphere with the finest standard of service. Amid the ultimate luxury of
tasteful surroundings and haute-cuisine dining,
