MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<br />

Solid experience of at least 8+ years with the following;<br />

VMware Vsphere essential.<br />

Linux - Ubuntu/Debian/Gentoo/RedHat preferred but not limited to.<br />

Backup Exec - Backup software<br />

MS Exchange 2003.<br />

MS Server 2003 / 2008.<br />

Beneficial experience with the following;<br />

NAGIOS & CACTI monitoring <strong>and</strong> Request Tracker<br />

Cisco PIX Firewalls - not essential but at least a solid grasp of firewall concepts.<br />

Experience with blade infrastructure <strong>and</strong> EMC or HP SAN’s<br />

General (across the board) mid-level experience with Cisco equipment –<br />

switches, routers, PIX firewalls.<br />

Solid underst<strong>and</strong>ing of networking concepts/services <strong>and</strong> how they are employed in the field.<br />

Solid underst<strong>and</strong>ing of security concepts in both systems <strong>and</strong> networks.<br />

Experience administering Microsoft products/technologies such as Server 2003+, Active<br />

Directory, Exchange 2003.<br />

Ability to communicate effectively on a technical <strong>and</strong> non technical level. Be able to prioritise<br />

<strong>and</strong> work effectively under pressure.<br />

Bachelor's Degree <strong>and</strong>/or three to five years of systems experience <strong>and</strong> any of the IT<br />

professional certifications would be an advantage;<br />

Comptia Certification<br />

ITIL<br />

Red Hat's Certification<br />

Linux <strong>Systems</strong> Administrator certifications for LPIC<br />

Microsoft Certification - MCSA<br />

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS<br />

Responsibilities may require evening <strong>and</strong> weekend work in response to needs of the systems<br />

being supported.<br />

Work requires professional written <strong>and</strong> verbal communication <strong>and</strong> interpersonal skills.<br />

Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials<br />

Ability to participate in <strong>and</strong> facilitate group meetings<br />

Ability to establish relationship with stakeholders, i.e. with Project <strong>Manager</strong>s, application users,<br />

super users, system owners, business representatives <strong>and</strong> with 3 rd party suppliers <strong>and</strong> vendors<br />

<strong>JOB</strong> DESCIPTION<br />

Manage <strong>and</strong> maintain all aspects of <strong>Huge</strong> Telecom’s VMware VSphere deployments <strong>and</strong><br />

Linux backend systems.<br />

Maintain all in-house backend networking equipment including switches <strong>and</strong> pix firewalls.<br />

Provide consultation for senior management on the best course of action for IS relevant<br />

projects.<br />

Work closely with other members of the <strong>Huge</strong> Telecom IS department<br />

(developers/DBAs/support) in projects <strong>and</strong> roll-outs<br />

Take a lead role in researching new technologies/products (systems & networks) with a mind<br />

to deploy where relevant.<br />

Provide third level support to the Service Desk <strong>and</strong> maintain the <strong>Systems</strong> & <strong>Network</strong>s request<br />

queues.<br />

Monitor services <strong>and</strong> perform proactive maintenance in order to ensure SLAs are met.<br />

Maintain relationships with IS related suppliers <strong>and</strong> service providers.<br />

Analyzing system logs <strong>and</strong> identifying potential issues with computer systems. Perform<br />

preventative maintenance on systems.<br />

Performing routine audits of systems <strong>and</strong> software.<br />

Applying operating system updates, patches, <strong>and</strong> configuration changes.<br />

Responsibility for security. Record <strong>and</strong> maintain user access <strong>and</strong> security.<br />

Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system. Write <strong>and</strong> maintain<br />

operational documentation.<br />

Troubleshooting any reported problems.<br />

System performance tuning.<br />

Work as a team member with other technical staff, to ensure connectivity <strong>and</strong> compatibility<br />

between systems.<br />

Be on call as needed.<br />
