Bringing new life
Being in a Hyde property enabled us to move into
this lovely new development in Brighton and
maintain a reasonable standard of living on a fairly
low wage.
5Grand Ocean provides a spectacular setting for affordable homes
Did you know?
Once a popular Butlins holiday camp, Grand Ocean
has been successfully renovated and re-developed
into quality, affordable housing thanks to an
innovative partnership between the Hyde Group
and Explore Living, Brighton & Hove Council.
Decked out in glorious art deco style as a tribute
to the most glamorous of the modern art
movements, Hyde has provided 48 general needs homes and 54 affordable
homes, some of them on a shared ownership basis. Grand Ocean is one of
the largest mixed-tenure housing schemes in the area, and is viewed as a
key strategic scheme by the local authority.
Hyde works with local stakeholders including councils and local authorities
through Section 106 agreements to bring affordable homes to areas where
local people may be priced out of the housing market. These partnership
agreements help to create cohesive, mixed communities where people
from all backgrounds and circumstances come together to live and work.
