Physiotherapy led exercise group (2 of 3)
Who runs the group?
The Durrington Ward physiotherapist and two therapy assistants run the
exercise classes.
Who can attend the exercise session?
If you are reading this leaflet it means that you have been selected by
the physiotherapist as a suitable candidate to take part in this kind of
rehabilitation.
Before and after some of the exercise classes, you will be assessed by
the physiotherapist to see if taking part in the class has had a positive
impact on your balance and mobility.
You will not be able to take part in the exercise class until you have been
assessed by the doctor and physiotherapist. This assessment will be
reviewed weekly, before the class.
The maximum attendance at any one session is 8 patients. There is no
limit to the number of classes you may attend whilst you are a patient on
this ward.
When and where will the classes be held?
The classes will be held every Friday afternoon from 3.15pm till 4pm
in the Day Room on Durrington Ward. You should be back to your
bedspace by 4.15pm.
How will I get there?
The nursing staff will be told the day before as to who will be attending
the exercise class. If you need some help getting to and from the class,
this will be given to you, either by helping you walk to the class or by
using a wheelchair if necessary.
If possible, please make sure that you are ready to begin and have been
to the toilet by 3pm, so allowing the session to start on time.
