INDIGENOUS GARDENS
OPEN DAY
21 October 2006
The Southern Peninsula Indigenous Flora and Fauna
Association (SPIFFA), Mornington Peninsula Round
Table (MP&WP Biosphere) and Trust for Nature have
organised a tour of local indigenous gardens on the
Peninsula. Come and see the array of beautiful local
plants that can be used to create a stunning and
drought-tolerant indigenous garden.
There are a range of properties – from Boogoolum at
Main Ridge, to smaller blocks in Somers, Rye, Rosebud
and McCrae – to look at. Properties in Red Hill,
Flinders and Tuerong will also be on display.
The self-drive tour will begin at 10.30am on Saturday
21 October, from either Seawinds Park at Main Ridge
or Boneo Primary School off Limestone Rd, where
participants will receive a map of the gardens on
display for the day. People can then choose which of
the properties they wish to visit. Car-pooling for the
event is recommended, and each venue is child friendly.
Gold coin donation (market day parking fees apply at
Boneo Primary - follow the signs to the wetlands).
Some venues will provide light refreshments.
