BTG Hamburg is moving! 

After seven successful years 

at the old location at 

114 Grossmannstrasse, BTG 

Hamburg will be moving to 

new premises in Peutestrasse 

at the end of the year. 

A new freight forwarding 

facility with approximately 

5,000 m² warehouse space 

and an office and staff facility 

area of 850m² is being built 

for BTG Internationale Spedition 

GmbH. 

In future and in addition to 

the further expansion of the 

existing forwarding business, 

the international air and sea 

freight, as well as national 

traffic, BTG Hamburg will be 

able to offer its clients advanced 

high-quality logistics services 

in this modern and topequipped 

forwarding facility. 

Although the BTG Group has 

already been working successfully 

in the field of logistics for 

a large customer base in various 

other locations for many 

years, up to now BTG Hamburg 

was unable to become 

independently 

active for its clients 

in this field 

of business. 

The ambitious 

expansion of 

our Hamburg 

branch underlines 

the 

c o n s e q u e n t 

efforts of the 

Future forwarding facility Hamburg 

management to expand and 

strengthen the logistics sector 

within the BTG Group. 

With the new location in 

Hamburg, BTG is also meeting 

the wishes of many clients 

for high-quality storage 

and logistics space close to 

the port and with excellent 

transport links. The proximity 

to the A1 motorway also guarantees 

quick access routes 

for BTG’s existing north-south 

traffic. Through an integrated 

customs warehouse, BTG 

Hamburg can also offer its clients 

a viable alternative to the 

free-port privileges, which will 

cease to exist as of 2013 and 

thus provide a tax-free storage 

for their products. 

Already during the planning 

of the new forwarding facility 

great attention was paid 

to energy efficiency and the 

construction of the building

with the highest environmental 

criteria, with the aim of 

achieving the “Silver Certificate” 

of the DGNB (German 

Sustainable Building Council). 

A certification through the 

DGNB is already widely 

spread within the industry, 

however in logistics real estate 

BTG Hamburg will belong to 

one of the few service providers 

on the 

German market, 

who can 

present their 

clients with 

such an environmental 

certificate.

achieved through the high 

heat-insulating outer wall 

structure of the warehouse, 

passive construction of the 

office building with triple glazing, 

heating and cooling of 

the offices through concrete 

core cooling with a geothermal 

energy heating system 

and lighting control in both 

the warehouse and office 

areas through automatic daylight 

controls.

A Look Behind the Scenes at Frankfurt Airport 

Altogether 30 million roses 

– that’s the equivalent of 

approx. 13 full cargo aircrafts 

of type MD-11 – were 

transported to Frankfurt 

by Lufthansa Cargo for this 

year’s Valentine’s Day. 

But even a day later Lufthansa 

Cargo at Frankfurt Airport still 

offered a lot to marvel at. 

During a three-hour tour, 

Mr. Sell of Lufthansa made it 

possible for the ten BTG participants 

(from Frankfurt, Bremen, 

Neuss and Plochingen) 

to experience some very interesting 

insights into the processes 

of air cargo in general. 

The group visited LCC (Lufthansa 

Cargo Center), the 

heart of the export handling 

process, where the procedures 

and handling from the 

receipt of goods up to the loading 

of a consignment were 

explained and demonstrated. 

In particular the group was 

shown the security handling 

(x-ray) with the associated 

procedures, as well as the 

handling of hazardous materials. 

So basically we were able to 

witness the daily business of 

an airline, which also handles 

and carries freight. 

Furthermore we were introduced 

to the special services 

of the airline, such as the Perishable 

Centre, VIC (valuable 

cargo) or animal transports. 

Next, after going through 

the extensive access controls 

of Fraport at the airport 

ramp, our group climbed 

into a Lufthansa MD 11 to 

have a look into the cockpit 

and to experience the unloa- 

ding procedures first-hand. 

Everyone in the group found 

this to be the most impressive 

part of an on the whole very 

interesting tour. 

Goods, which had been stored 

in various containers, were 

moved to the open cargo bay 

door by means of easy-glide 

rollers fixed to the floor of 

the aircraft and then lifted by 

hydraulic hoists on to a conveyor 

belt on the floor, where 

the consignments were taken 

by Lufthansa employees and 

driven to the warehouse.

Czech Republic meeting on 

1st February 2012 in Plochingen. 

2012 should be a good year 

for transports to and from the 

Czech Republic. 

The course for success was set 

at this meeting between BTG 

Augsburg, Neuss and Plochingen 

and five colleagues 

from Transforwarding, Czech 

Republic. 

In an extremely positive and 

friendly atmosphere, strategies 

for the further development 

of our mutual Czech 

business were defined. 

Decades of trustworthy cooperation 

already unite BTG Internationale 


and Transforwarding.

Transforwarding now has

BTG Plochingen by Order of Fashion 

With KRÜGER DIRNDL, BTG 

Plochingen has won over a 

traditional company as its 

client. 

The excellent quality and wellbalanced 

mix of traditional 

and fashionable “dirndl”-dresses 

characterizes the Krüger 

company. 

With elaborate, exclusive and 

high quality products the 

house brand “Krüger Manufacture” 

has made a name for 

itself among its tradition-conscious 

customers. 

More recently the company 

has also become especially 

successful with the younger 

clientele. 

One thing which has intensi- 

fied the high demand 

has been 

the presence of 

“Krüger Dirndl” 

as the official 

partner for the 

2011-season of 

“Germany’s Next 

Top Model”. Rebecca, 

who came 

second in the final, 

won the job for 

the photo shooting 

and presented 

the new collection 

“Las Vegas” 

in a bold, fresh 

and sexy manner. 

Young customers 

are delighted with 

the cheeky “Krüger 

Madl” collection. 

More than 50 years ago Gerhard 

Krüger founded the 

Krüger Dirndl-Manufacture in 

Berchtesgaden in Bayern. 

Since 1998 the headquarters 

of Krüger-Dirndl GmbH have 

been in Wernau near Stuttg- 

art, where Thomas Henne and 

his two sons have carried on 

the exclusive custom of producing 

traditional costumes. 

In addition Krüger also caters 

for traditional fashion menswear, 

shoes, accessories and 

much more. 

The employees of BTG Plochingen 

are pleased to be 

working regularly for “Krüger 

Dirndl” and the proximity to 

Krüger’s outlet in Wernau, 

which is only minutes away, is 

quite an attraction…

Kempten moves „silently“... 

... but with a lot of spirit 

As of 1st March BTG’s Kempten branch has been taking 

care of the transport logistics for its client Cellofoam 

GmbH & Co. KG, 88400 Biberach. 

Cellofoam is an owner-managed 

company, which has 

developed into a leading specialist 

for sound insulation for 

industrial and technical applications. 

Twice daily BTG collects a trailer 

from Cellofoam and brings 

the goods to the shipping depot, 

where the stored goods 

and the goods direct from 

production are brought together. 

Distribution takes place in a 

healthy mix of direct traffic 

and hub-traffic. In addition 

we organise part and full 

loads directly – depending 

on customer requirements 

we also supply high cube or 

mega trailers for loading. 

BTG is also involved in procurement 

logistics – from all 

over Europe raw materials 

are collected from supplying 

companies and delivered on

BTG Plochingen starts Cooperation 

with Secondary School in Plochingen 

After several detailed preliminary 

discussions, 1st January 

2012 marked the start of a new 

cooperation between the secondary 

school of Plochingen 

and BTG Internationale Spedition 

GmbH, Plochingen. 

On two days in January and 

February Yvette Wohlfarth – 

Branch Manager of BTG Plochingen 

– had the opportunity 

to talk to 9th year pupils and to 

outline the profession of a logistics 

and freight forwarding 

agent, as well as talking about 

her own personal experiences 

and reporting on the career 

possibilities in this profession. 

Yvette Wohlfarth wants to pass 

on the enthusiasm she has for 

her profession to young people 

and hopefully awaken their 

interest in a practical work experience 

or a traineeship in this 

line of business. 

The pupils showed great interest 

in the information Yvette 

Wohlfarth gave them regarding 

the personal suitability for 

the job. Using examples from 

her daily work duties (order 

processing for goods going 

abroad, introduction of various 

types of dangerous goods and 

their associated labels, currency 

conversion, calculation of 

freight charges on the basis 

of an offer, intercultural issues, 

etc.) she was able to highlight, 

which school subjects are later 

of importance in the business 

of freight/logistics. 

Naturally, the humorous side of 

things was also not neglected, 

making the two double lessons 

very entertaining. 

The Chamber of Commerce 

very much welcomes the creation 

of networks between 

schools and regional companies. 

These networks should 

support and help young people 

in finding the right path to 

pictures BTG 

choosing a career. 

The secondary school in Plochingen 

was founded in 1953 

and is attended by nearly 600 

pupils from Plochingen, Deizisau 

and Altbach.

Mission Impossible?!? 

No – 

for BTG nothing is impossible! 

Last year in December BTG 

Expo GmbH in Frankfurt 

handled a quite unusual consignment. 

A BMW had to be 

delivered to the Red Square in 

Moscow and subsequently to 

the “Pushkinskij” cinema. 

The car was a concept car for 

the film “Mission Impossible”. 

BTG’s branch office in Munich/Oberschleissheimorganised 

the return transport. A 

branch office spanning mission, 

which once again underlines 

the smooth processes 

between our various BTG offices.
