Objective of the Seminar
The Advanced Maintenance Management Program (AMMP) brings the
country’s leading Plant Professionals and Maintenance Professionals/
planners from various Industries together at a single platform and
allows them to reveal their prowess to the top echelons of industry. At a
time when industries are on a merciless drive to become more efficient
and effective, the importance of Plant Management and as changing
roles of Plant Managers assumes greater significance. Indeed, it is this
transformation of Plant Professionals / Managers to Asset Managers
that is the theme of the 22nd AMMP.
Production Manager and Asset Maintenance Manager complement
each others’ efforts for enhancing the performance of the plant.
Industry is slowly but surely shifting from a Failure Maintenance
mindset to one of Preventive Maintenance, in which potential failures
are anticipated and corrected before they can occur or even analyzed at
the design stage itself. This theme has a number of facets but it can be
defined by six cardinal issues listed below.
Asset Selection for Maintainability
This transformation needs to be effected right from the time of selecting
an Asset for purchase. A maintainable Asset, marginally higher
priced than a non-maintainable Asset is a worthy investment. Also,
maintainability of owned Assets can also be enhanced by re-designed
sensor integration. An explanation of the concept of Maintainability,
how to determine it, what sort of redesigns or adjustments could be
performed to enhance Maintainability are all issues dealt with in this
section.
Maintenance as a Business Process
As all business processes, Maintenance must also be expressed in
terms of ‘Return on Investment’ and how to determine this figure is a
calculation with several parameters. Maintenance activities also need
to be mapped as a process, to be factored into an industry’s business
plan, whether performed internally or outsourced.
Maintenance Assurance Systems
Once the concept is understood and the business plan worked out, an
actual Maintenance Management System needs to be put in place,
with a step-by-step implementation process. It must include regular
and critical assessment of equipment as processes will certainly face
several hurdles during implementation. This section will deal with
the methods of assessment, implementation and how to successfully
overcome the hurdles.
Developing Performance Indicators for Managing Maintenance
There are several parameters that require constant measurement during
Asset Maintenance and Management; these include ‘Availability’,
‘Reliability’, ‘Maintainability’, Overall Equipment Effectiveness
(OEE), etc. These performance indicators will be developed with
relevance to the diversified industry, using empirical methods as well
as tools for complex data analysis. The Management dashboards
will convince the top management to allocate resources before the
inevitable crisis. The compensations and the incentives will be driven
by these indicators.
Asset Management Competence
While Maintainable Assets can be procured and tolerable predictions
can be made about their reliability, in order to make those predictions
come true, the Maintenance hierarchy needs to be trained to competently
manage the Maintenance Challenges. In this section, methods of
determining competence gaps, training needs and techniques for
providing comprehensive training for maintenance will be dwelt upon.
There will be deliberations on competency mapping tools to take into
the DNA of the enterprise.
Spares and Inventory Management
This is one of the most difficult-to-predict branches of Asset
Management because all assets have a value that depreciates during
their life cycle. How much to store involves detailed calculation. There
will be discussions in respect of Enterprise Management and the actual
spares procurement process.
Methodology
Successful and renowned experts from different industries and
organizations have been invited to share their experiences and opinions,
on how to adopt Pro-active Management strategies to ensure effective
Plant Performance objectives. The presentations will be followed by
in-depth discussions. Special emphasis will be laid on a road map for
implementation of the concepts and practices being presented.
Redefine Your Maintenance Strategy
Success Stories: Programs like this, which focuses on latest
developments and practices in Plant Management with special
reference to Maintenance are practically non-existent in our country.
As fairly senior level delegates attend this program, it is expected that
each one of them has solved a typical Plant Challenge, introduced a
unique technique/ concept, or implemented a new system, which has
made a considerable difference by reducing the down time, cost, etc.,
which is not yet well known / understood.
As this program represents a rare opportunity to familiarize and
exchange new ideas, each participant is requested to forward a success
story, in not more than five pages (including figures and sketches).
They should come prepared to share their achievements and successes
with fellow participants in about 10 minutes of presentation time
allotted for this purpose. Facility for power point presentation will be
available.
Call for Technical Papers
We invite experienced Plant Professionals, Managers, Practitioners,
Academicians, Researchers and Consultants to send their papers
for presentation on the subjects related to the programme theme.
Interested authors are invited to send about 250-300 words synopsis
electronically for consideration by technical committee for inclusion
in technical proceedings by the Chairman, Technical Committee, at
iipedelhi@gmail.com. Choice of topic should be intimated to the
Chairman, Technical Committee, as soon as possible. Complete paper
should be submitted as per schedule. Submission of paper indicates
the author’s willingness to register as a delegate for the seminar. The
successful author will be notified.
Award for Best Paper and Best Success Story:
Suitable recognition and cash prize will be given for the paper and
success story adjudged as best.
Who should participate?
This program will appeal to organizations who need more return from
their Assets including safe and reliable operation of their Physical
Assets and equipment in order to achieve their business targets. This
program addresses the needs of a diverse audience with an interest in
Maintenance Management, Maintenance Improvement and the use of
techniques. This program should be of interest to:-
• General Managers, Production Managers who have oversight
responsibility for Maintenance Management and maintenance
organizational units.
• Operations and Maintenance Managers with direct line
responsibility as well as staff support responsibility for
maintenance.
• Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Engineers.
