History<br />

The European Association of Osseo<strong>in</strong>tegration (EAO) is a nonprofit<br />

organisation founded <strong>in</strong> Munich <strong>in</strong> 1991 follow<strong>in</strong>g on the<br />

recommendations made by an <strong>in</strong>ternational group of cl<strong>in</strong>icians and<br />

research workers. It was formed as an <strong>in</strong>ternational, <strong>in</strong>terdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary<br />

and <strong>in</strong>dependent science-based forum for all professionals <strong>in</strong>terested<br />

<strong>in</strong> the art and science of osseo<strong>in</strong>tegration.<br />

Vision<br />

Bridg<strong>in</strong>g the gap between science and cl<strong>in</strong>ical practice, EAO improves<br />

the quality of patient care as the lead<strong>in</strong>g voice and resource centre <strong>in</strong><br />

the field of <strong>implant</strong> <strong>dentistry</strong> <strong>in</strong> Europe<br />

Mission<br />

The objectives of the EAO are the follow<strong>in</strong>g:<br />

1. To promote and facilitate cl<strong>in</strong>ical applications of osseo<strong>in</strong>tegration<br />

for the benefit of patients throughout the world.<br />

2. To promote the advancement of methods of treatment <strong>in</strong><br />

reconstructive surgery and prosthetic rehabilitation based on the<br />

pr<strong>in</strong>ciples of osseo<strong>in</strong>tegration and related discipl<strong>in</strong>es.<br />

3. To promote and <strong>in</strong>itiate research <strong>in</strong>to improved cl<strong>in</strong>ical procedures<br />

for rehabilitation as a consequence of osseo<strong>in</strong>tegration.<br />

4. To promote <strong>in</strong>ternational exchange of knowledge and understand<strong>in</strong>g<br />

of the techniques and research <strong>in</strong> the field of osseo<strong>in</strong>tegration and<br />

related discipl<strong>in</strong>es.<br />

5. To promote the publication of research f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs and other materials<br />

as part of cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g education for the benefit of members and<br />

<strong>in</strong>terested organizations.<br />

Membership<br />

93 % of our members at the congress <strong>in</strong> Zurich (2006) said they<br />

would recommend EAO to a colleague. Jo<strong>in</strong> EAO now and benefit<br />

from a substantially reduced registration fee to the Annual Congress!<br />

lead<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>novators from around the world.<br />
