To establish the rights of persons with disabilities from poor and deprived families so that they<br />
can gain access to a quality life in mainstream society<br />
To provide equal opportunities, ensure full participation and protection of Human Rights (Right<br />
to education, Right to recreation / leisure, Right to food, Right to protection, Right to<br />
participation, Right to health) of 88 children with disabilities at 6 <strong>CBR</strong> centres in 6 Gram<br />
Panchayats in Bankura I Block & for 50 children with disabilities at the Centre for Special<br />
Education (CSE) at Bankura, Kenduadihi <strong>Bikash</strong> Society<br />

• Procurement of books on disability issues and other needed equipment<br />
• Development of teaching learning materials, charts and posters throughout the year<br />
• Employment of adequate staff for running <strong>CBR</strong> programme and Center for Special<br />

• Classroom based and onsite training for <strong>CBR</strong> workers on disability related issues<br />
• Maintain updated database on each child, its progress, case studies etc.<br />
Prevention, early detection, identification and early intervention of persons with disabilities<br />
• Running of 6 <strong>CBR</strong> centres at 6 Gram Panchayats providing all intended services<br />
effectively<br />
• Provision of specialist intervention, e.g. of speech therapist, physiotherapist, art teacher<br />
• Awareness generation programme for children and adults with disabilities, their parents,<br />
siblings and community people on: disability issues and legal guardianship, skill trainings<br />
available, Disability Acts, existing govt. laws & schemes, provision of reservations and<br />
facilities available for the persons with disabilities<br />
• Sensitization and creation of mass awareness on Disability issues through one district<br />
level seminar<br />
• Celebration of World Disabled Day by participating in Disability Walk and Cultural<br />

• School Readiness Programme to prepare children with mild to moderate level of<br />
intellectual and physical disability for integrating them into mainstream schools<br />
• Provision of input / tuition to the disabled children who are admitted at the primary<br />
schools so that they can cope with the class curriculum like their normal peers<br />
• Initiating vocational training services at <strong>Bikash</strong> for 15 children with disabilities by training<br />
them in more than one selected (self opted) trade<br />
• Organizing integrated cultural programme (lessons on singing, dancing, recitation, mime;<br />
integrated sit & draw/paint/art handicraft programme and competition, outing-cum-picnic<br />
etc.)<br />
• Ensuring effective running of Centre for Special Education<br />
• Organizing parents training on home based management and workshops to enhance<br />
their knowledge so they could work for the betterment and fast progress of their children<br />
at home<br />
• Running a School Bus Service to bring the children to the CSE (bus was donated by<br />
British NGO)<br />

• Formation and nurturing of the advocacy groups with disabled persons for attaining more<br />

Additionally, <strong>Bikash</strong> plans to raise own contributions of 251.800 Rs (~ 5.036 €) for certain<br />
activities.<br />

• Procurement of speech trainer unit (345 €)<br />
Note: Except medicines for epileptic children (revolving fund) and few expensive medical<br />
instruments (which are part of the wishlist for extra funding), all other costs will be managed by<br />
<strong>Bikash</strong> from other sources or local contribution. The staff costs are necessary to run the project<br />
activities, especially the newly constructed respite center. As the committed and capable staff is<br />
the most essential component of the project, <strong>Indienhilfe</strong> agreed to fund mainly the staff costs.<br />
All sanctioned amounts include a lumpsum of 15 % for:<br />
