CAFETERIA/HALL PROJECT
In the Spring of 2013 YWAM Montana-Lakeside will embark on one or our biggest building project to date.
Because it has always been our understanding of the ways of God that "to whom much is given, much is
required," we rejoice at the significant growth we are experiencing but we are also sobered by it, sensing
that this season of blessing comes with a greater responsibility to fulfill God's kingdom assignment for our
ministry. To date we have had the privilege of training around 9000 students in our various programs and
schools, equipping and sending them to serve in over 100 nations. Somewhat surprisingly, even in the midst
of the financial instability worldwide, many of our training schools this past year were full to capacity, hosting
our largest number of students since our inception in 1985. Even more importantly, we have experienced this
year an unprecedented fruitfulness in our ministry partnerships around the world and especially with our
target nations. Because of this fruitfulness both overseas and locally, we have found ourselves needing to
continue expanding in order to accommodate the growth. Because we also felt compelled by the Lord many
years ago to operate with a "no-debt" policy, our capability to expand has often been slower than we would
like. To God's credit, however, and to the credit of an exceptional leadership team that has endeavored to be
obedient to Him, the entire facility, both new and old, is entirely debt free.
Our next big step of faith is a much needed full remodeling of our current kitchen/cafeteria coupled with a
proposed expansion plan for that facility. This would provide for us a place where the entire staff/student
population can meet and eat together in one room, which has not been possible for many years.
This space will make room for more "Whatever it Takes To know God and Make Him Known. Together." and
that is what we get excited about!
The current cafeteria and kitchen building will undergo a large-scale remodel and expansion. Upon completion,
the 17,000 sq.ft. facility will be one of the largest gathering halls in the whole Flathead Valley region. It will seat
up to 1000 people in auditorium-style seating and 500 people at dining tables. The multi-purpose building
includes a performance stage, childcare area, conference rooms and classrooms.
The design concept emphasizes “excellence without extravagance” and incorporates materials that are
economic and durable. We are using an engineered lumber structural system to span large distances in the hall
and minimize obstructions in viewing the stage. Our design will maximize daylight in the space and provide
exterior views. Also, we have been able to work the current commercial kitchen into the design of the expanded
facility with minor remodeling. This means that food service can continue through the majority of construction.
This building will become the heart of YWAM Montana-Lakeside’s campus.
