Parametric Equalizers (EQs)<br />

Parametric EQs typically have two or three knobs to allow users the control over various<br />

frequency aspects of the signal. One control allows selecting a specific frequency. Another<br />

control determines how much boost or reduction is applied to that frequency.<br />

Fully parametric equalizers provide a third control for filter bandwidth, referred to as Q. The<br />

Q determines how wide or narrow the frequency band centered on the selected frequency is<br />

affected by level adjustment.<br />

Many audio mixers provide several parametric EQs on each individual channel. See Figure 14.8.<br />
