My toe dives slowly through<br />
The soap cloud<br />
Finding its warm liquid filling<br />
--thick and heavy<br />
Hugging me<br />
My pores become drunk<br />
As my skin adapts<br />
To this welcome warmth<br />
The desire to stay comes<br />
The sound <strong>of</strong> worn magazines<br />
Mommy sits near,<br />
On the toilet so she can see<br />
Reading her pages<br />
My fingers like matured fruit<br />
From an aquatic adventure<br />
The Runners<br />

We are runners in a race,<br />
propelling bodies in circles,<br />
constantly gasping for oxygen<br />
and continually battling time.<br />
We never stray <strong>of</strong>f the track.<br />
We know nothing else:<br />
these lines, this concrete,<br />
the breaths we take.<br />
The other athletes blur,<br />
becoming shapeless and pointless.<br />
This race is ours;<br />
we finish at the starting line.<br />
I look up—she smiles<br />
Smiling back, I dip<br />
Into another fantasy<br />
