BARBER AND MASTER BARBER EXAMINATION
To schedule an exam by phone
1 Call 800.805.9124 between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. (Eastern Time), Monday through
Friday. You must schedule your practical exam at least 10 business days prior to
the date you wish to test.
2 At the end of the call, you will be given a number confirming your appointment.
Record and keep this confirmation number for your records.
Holidays. Testing generally does not occur on the following holidays:
New Year’s Day
Independence Day
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Labor Day
Presidents’ Day
Thanksgiving Day
Memorial Day
Christmas Day
Additional state holidays may be observed in the state where you schedule your
exam appointment.
Test centers
The theory exam is given on a computer. You may take your theory exam at any
Prometric test center in the United States. A complete list of test center locations
may be found by going to www.prometric.com/maryland/mdbarber and
clicking on the “Do More” button. Alternatively, you may call 800.853.5448.
The practical exam consists of actual demonstrations. Practical exams are given
only at the test sites listed below.

Directions
From the South: Take I-695 north to Security Blvd.
and turn left. Take Security Blvd. to Lord Baltimore
Dr. and turn right. The test center is on the righthand
side of the street.
Take 495 to exit 34. Follow 355 south past NIH
(National Institute of Health). Bear right onto
Woodmont Avenue, second traffic light turn right
into Public parking garage. Bring quarters for
meters.
Test center locations are subject to change. Be sure to verify the address of and
directions to your destination before you leave for your exam.
Rescheduling
your
appointment
Important You must pass both the theory and the practical exams within
12 months to be eligible for licensure with the Board.
Retaking an exam
If you allowed your exam registration to expire or did not pass your exam, you must
re-register using one of the methods above. Another exam registration fee is
required.
To avoid an additional fee, you must contact Prometric to reschedule an exam at
least three full business days before the day of your originally scheduled theory
exam appointment, and at least 10 full business days before the day of your
originally scheduled practical exam appointment.Rescheduling fees are as follows:
No fee if you reschedule your theory exam on or before the fourth business
day prior to your appointment date.
