e first impression of Norway
This definitely the magnificent
nature and especially the fjords!
Students here are offered a great
variety of trips and cruises, which
are partly or sometimes even fully
sponsored by different student organizations.
A must-see place is called Trolltunga,
which is a cliff in a shape of a
tongue (just like the one from the
Lion King movie), which is positioned
over a wide river between two very
high fjord mountains.
Studies at NHH share some similarities
with SSE Riga, since the level
of studies is quite high. Moreover,
exchange students are offered a
vast choice of different courses in
areas such as finance, business,
marketing, economics, strategy and,
of course, Norwegian main speciality,
shipping economics. The main
difference between SSE Riga and
NHH is the cosmopolitan society
in school, since there are students
from more than 50 countries. It is
really interesting to get to know so
many cultures after getting away
from the usual Baltic culture.
Since NHH is a business school,
crazy student parties are not an
exception here. :) There are numeral
student organizations, which organize
different shows and parties at
NHH. Moreover, students in NHH are
considered to be the most active
ones in the whole Norway, therefore,
anyone can find an organization to
join according to his or her interests.
When it comes partying, pre-parties
here is a must, since due to
municipality regulations alcohol is
very expensive, therefore, students
usually gather as early as at 18.00 to
pre-party and then all together go to
Klubben (famous club located

at NHH). A price for a 0.33l beer in
Klubben is around 3EUR and this
is the CHEAPEST beer you can get
here! In the city center prices for a
0.33l beer might be up to 9EUR and
cocktail prices are varying between
20 and 130 EUR; therefore, all incoming
students are taking all
duty-free amount with them from the
airport. Another must-do thing if you
ever visit Norway and plan to stay
for some time.
All in all, Norway is a wonderful
country to spend your exchange semester,
since here you can not only
enjoy the beautiful fjords and do a
lot of hiking, but also get involved in
a lot of stuff such as different sports
activities, student organizations and
free salsa lessons,
get to know a lot of
great people, find your true love,
enjoy crazy Nordic parties and much
more.
