11. Current status of the implementation of the global <strong>LRIT</strong> system and <strong>The</strong><br />

<strong>Bahamas</strong> <strong>LRIT</strong> Data Centre<br />

11.1. A number of <strong>LRIT</strong> data centres remain to be established, tested and integrated into<br />

the <strong>LRIT</strong> system.<br />

11.2 <strong>The</strong> <strong>Bahamas</strong> has established its national data centre which will be managed on<br />

its behalf by Fulcrum <strong>Maritime</strong> Systems Ltd (www.fulcrum-maritime.com) who is<br />

also authorized as <strong>The</strong> <strong>Bahamas</strong> Recognized Application Service Provider<br />

(Recognized ASP) to perform the functions in accordance with section 5.3 of the<br />

revised <strong>LRIT</strong> performance standards and functional requirements.<br />

11.3 All applicable Bahamian vessels will be integrated into <strong>The</strong> <strong>Bahamas</strong> <strong>LRIT</strong> Data<br />

Centre depending on the date of their radio related survey and subject to a<br />

satisfactory conformance test of the shipborne <strong>LRIT</strong> equipment.<br />

11.4 <strong>The</strong> BMA will notify the Company of any failure of the Recognized ASP,<br />

Communication Service Provider (CSP), <strong>Bahamas</strong> <strong>LRIT</strong> Data Centre or any other<br />

circumstances that will affect the transmission of <strong>LRIT</strong> information from the ship.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Master shall record such notification in the ship’s Official Log Book.<br />

12. Fees<br />

12.1 <strong>The</strong> following fees shall apply to <strong>LRIT</strong> documentation issued by the BMA:<br />

Initial Conformance Test Report: US$400<br />

Amended and/or subsequent Conformance Test Report: US$200<br />

Exemption/Equivalent Arrangement Document: US$150<br />

12.2 <strong>The</strong> vessel will have to be issued with an amended Ship Radio License<br />

incorporating the shipborne <strong>LRIT</strong> equipment. <strong>The</strong> fee for the revised Ship Radio<br />

License is:<br />

.1 US$75 for ships 1600GT and less,<br />

.2 US$150 for ships 1601GT and above.<br />

12.3 Unless otherwise requested, the Conformance Test Report and revised Ship<br />

Radio License will be returned by courier to the applicant. <strong>The</strong> fee related to this<br />

service is currently US$60.<br />

13. Collating of Data for Effective Implementation of <strong>LRIT</strong><br />

13.1 In order to ensure the effective implementation of the <strong>LRIT</strong> requirements to the<br />

Bahamian fleet, the BMA continues to collate data for the <strong>Bahamas</strong> <strong>LRIT</strong> Data<br />

Centre.<br />

13.2 For this process, it is necessary to obtain information from all ships/units in order<br />

to accurately assess whether they are required to comply with the <strong>LRIT</strong><br />

requirements.<br />
