“Lads of the Field and Flock”
The Livestock Judging Squad is selected f rom
the Judging Class which begins in the fall quarter.
The class meets three times each week and class
instruction is given by Mr. O. M. Kiser in the
judging of all types and beeds of livestock. At
the opening of the winter quarter the highest and
the most interested students are selected for the
school squad and intensive practices are held in
preparation for the subcollegiate contests held
annually at the Red River Valley Winter Shows.
Shortly after the opening of the winter quarter
the annual inter-class livestock judging contest
is held and a silver trophy is awarded to the
class finishing first in this contest.
The Northwest School team which was entered
in the Red River Valley Winter Shows consisted
of the following students: Roy Lerud, Ernest
Rydeen, Harold Utech. The school team
finished second in competition with other schools.
Harold Utech was high man in the entire contest
in judging swine. Roy Lerud was high man in the
entire contest in dairy judging. The Northwest
School team took first place and a silver trophy in
dairy judging.
To Mr. O. M. Kiser, coach of the squad, goes
the credit for the fine record made by the school
teams in these inter-school contests. His zeal and
enthusiasm for this work has been a great encouragement
to all squad members.
