Established in 1985, based in East Sussex, <strong>Paxton</strong> <strong>Access</strong> <strong>Ltd</strong> is a<br />
leading manufacturer of electronic access control.<br />
The chairman and owner of <strong>Paxton</strong> <strong>Access</strong> is Tony Ratcliffe, and<br />
the company is run by our managing director, Drew Hoggatt.<br />

How to Start<br />
This Product Selection Guide has been designed to help you choose the right products to build up an access<br />
control system.<br />
The first step is to choose the type of system you want: Compact, Switch2 or Net2. See below for an explanation of<br />
what these systems are.<br />
Throughout this document you will see products marked with either Standalone or PC based PC icons.<br />
These indicate what systems the products are compatible with.<br />
Once the type of system has been chosen, use the tabs to go through and select the required system components.<br />

<strong>Paxton</strong> <strong>Access</strong> Systems<br />
Standalone access control<br />
Standalone systems are administered using programming cards rather than a PC. The<br />
doors controlled using standalone systems operate independently. The simple method of<br />
administration, using card packs, allows users to be granted access to all doors using a single token. Standalone systems<br />
are simple to install as they do not require a network connection. These systems are ideal for sites with a relatively low<br />
rotation of card holders and are available in proximity token, keypad and magstripe card versions.<br />
Compact<br />
Compact is a simple all-in-one solution for low security and internal doors. There is no separate control unit as everything<br />
is housed within the reader. This means that there are fewer components leading to an easier installation. Simply connect<br />
a power supply and an electric lock. Tokens are used to gain access. As Compact is a standalone system it is administered<br />
using our simple card packs.<br />
Switch2<br />
Switch2 is a standalone system with a separate control unit. This means it is suitable for high security doors and general<br />
external use. The system consists of a control unit, reader, tokens, power supply and an electric lock. As Switch2 is a<br />
standalone system it is administered using our simple card packs.<br />
PC based access control<br />
PC based refers to networked access control systems that are administered using one or more<br />
PCs. Being networked means that all doors on the system can be administered from a central<br />
location. A user can be instantly denied access to all doors if required. PC administration gives<br />
greater flexibility over the control of the system. For example, users can be granted access into particular areas only at<br />
specific times. Reports can be generated showing a history of user movements around the building.<br />
PC based systems are generally easier to manage and are much better at handling large numbers of users and doors. This<br />
makes them suitable for buildings of all sizes. PC based systems can be used with proximity token readers, keypads and<br />
magstripe card readers.<br />
Net2<br />
STAND<br />
ALONE<br />
Net2 is an advanced PC based system. It has easy to use, intuitive software. Users can be added to the system quickly.<br />
<strong>Access</strong> reports can be generated at the click of a button. The door control units are networked and have been designed<br />
to be simple to install and configure.<br />
While being simple to use and install, the Net2 system has a complete range of powerful features which will fulfil most<br />
clients’ requirements. Net2 system components include control units, readers, tokens, power supplies, electric locks, a<br />
desktop reader and software.<br />
