General Information
Course Description
Coronary Artery Disease: Prevention, Detection & Treatment is designed to provide
practicing physicians and healthcare staff with an in-depth overview of the
entire spectrum of coronary artery disease. Novel risk factors, state-of-the-art
imaging technologies, and new management strategies for patients with acute
coronary artery disease will be highlighted. The evolving role of
revascularization, interventional cardiology, coronary surgery, and options for
the management of advanced non-revascularizable coronary artery disease will
be discussed. Population trends and future directions in new scientific
breakthroughs such as cell therapy for patients with coronary artery disease will
be reviewed.
Course Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
• Distinguish lifestyle interventions that improve cardiovascular health and
understand the effects of diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome;
• Describe the latest diagnostic and management strategies for the acute
coronary syndromes;
• Incorporate the use of newer imaging modalities in the detection and
treatment of complications of myocardial ischemia;
• Determine the risks and benefits of screening, early detection and prevention
in coronary artery disease; and,
• Recognize the latest diagnostic and management strategies for acute ischemic
events and the latest information on newer platelets and thrombin inhibitors.
Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or
proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or
taught in this course.
Intended Audience
The course would be of interest for cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and
internists as well as physician assistants and nurse practitioners managing
patients with coronary artery disease.
Credit
College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for
physicians.
College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, designates this live activity for a maximum of
14.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit
commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Other Health Care Professionals
A certificate of attendance will be provided to other health care professionals
for requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty
societies, or other professional associations.

Date and Location
Coronary Artery Disease: Prevention, Detection & Treatment will be held
November 2-4, 2013. The program will be held at the Four Seasons Las Vegas
in Las Vegas, Nevada. The program will be held in the Grand Ballroom.
Attending Coronary Artery Disease: Prevention, Detection & Treatment will allow
participants to experience education and enjoy the dynamic location of Las
Vegas. After the session, enjoy world-class entertainment and shows or enjoy
one of the many culinary delights the city has to offer.
Lodging Accommodations
Guest rooms have been reserved for attendees and their guests with special
course rates at the Four Seasons Las Vegas for $225 single/double. In order to
receive the special rate, reservations must be made before the room block is
filled or before the expiration date of October 1, 2013, whichever comes first.
Reservations will be taken following this date based on space and rate
availability. Please identify yourself as a participant of the Mayo Clinic

registrants on the registration web site. Attendees should have log-in
information available to access information. The materials will be available
during and after the program (6 months). Attendees are encouraged to bring a
laptop and/or electronic tablet to the program to view the materials. Attendees
