The company owns and operates a Lube Oil Blending Plant (LOBP) in Mombasa with a total output capacity of 20 Million liters per year. The LOBP serves to

Libya Oil’s Safety, Health and Environment Policy specifies acceptable product safety practice for the sale of Oilibya brand of lubricants. Reference to this 

policy is advised to ensure company practices conform. 

MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS 

A material safety data Sheet (MSDS) is available for each of the products listed in this Catalogue. The MSDS describes health, safety and environment 

hazards and precautions for product transportation, use and disposal. The MSDS also includes first aid and precautions for handling spills and fires. Users 

of products should consult the MSDS concerning the product’s use and disposal. 

FOOD INDUSTRY APPLICATIONS 

No Oilibya brand of lubricants should be used or be recommended for sale to be added as an intended part of any food, feed or drink except where Libya 

Oil Kenya Limited deems such use and where an applicable industry & local regulations exist upon which reference will be made to ensure that the product 

and its proposed use meet all of the requirements of that standard. 

POTABLE WATER SYSTEM 

Oilibya brand of lubricants must not be disposed to potable water systems. Also, used oil must be disposed and all spills must be contained and cleaned in 

accordance to the local regulations as laid down by the National Environment Management Authority. 

COMPRESSORS FOR BREATHING AIR SYSTEMS 

No Oilibya brand of lubricant is recommended for oil-lubricated reciprocating compressors supplying breathing air either for medical use or directly to 

workers. 

Libya Oil does not recommend the use of any of its products as filter oils for air conditioning units. 

POLYCHLORINATED BIPHENYL (PCB) 

Oilibya brand of oils are manufactured from virgin base oils and therefore, do not contain PCBs.

Torq Series Oils are extra high performance gear oils having outstanding extreme pressure characteristics and load-carrying properties, intended for 

use in all types of enclosed gear drives with circulation or splash lubrication systems. They are formulated from highly refined base stocks and a special 

additive system.

• Outstanding compatibility with a range of seal materials.

Industrial Gear Oils 

Application 

• Torq lubricants are used in a wide range of industrial and marine applications, especially enclosed gear boxes with spur, helical, bevel and

Oilibya Transformer Oil is a high quality mineral uninhibited insulating oils with very good dielectric properties and oxidation stability intended for 

transformers, switchgears and other electrical equipment. 

Oilibya Transformer Oil meets the following specifications: IEC 60296:2003 – 11, 3rd Edition Standard Specification, ASTM D1275B (Doble’s modified) 

Test requirement for corrosive sulphur, NRS 079-1:2004 and Eskom Specification 32-406 for transformer classes B, C, D, E, F, G & H. 


• Free from wear even at low temperatures. 

• High resistance to thermal and chemical degradation in the presence of iron and copper. 

• Excellent low pour point. 

Application 

• In oil filled transformers and switchgears in which the oil is required as an insulation medium or as a heat transfer medium. 

• Applications specifying IEC 60296 -03 (U) and reinforced copper corrosion protection (pass ASTM D1275B corrosion test). 

• Suitable for use in oil filled cables, for special impregnation processes or for use in capacitors.

Thermic Oil 


Oilibya Thermic Oil is a premium, high quality product intended for use in closed indirect 

heating installations. It is formulated from highly refined base stocks which are resistant to 

thermal cracking and chemical oxidation. It has good heat transfer efficiency. The viscosity is 

such that it can be pumped readily at both start-up and operating temperatures. 


• Good low temperature fluidity for starting-up. 

• Low pumping losses, low vapour pressure. 

• High thermal stability, good oxidation resistance and low viscosity. 

Application 

• Recommended for use in closed, cold-oil sealed, indirect heating and cooling systems in all kinds of industrial processes operating at bulk oil 

temperatures up to a maximum of 320 o C and at atmospheric pressure. 

• Oilibya Thermic Oil should be used only in systems with forced circulation. Systems that depend on convection for circulation of the heat transfer 

medium do not provide a rapid enough flow to prevent local overheating and rapid deterioration of the oil. Further, this oil is not recommended for 

use in open systems where hot oil is exposed directly to the air.

Glytech Series Oils are high quality lubricants intended for use in air compressors. They are formulated from highly refined base stocks having narrow 

distillation ranges incorporating a novel additive technology to give outstanding antiwear, antirust and antioxidation performance. 

Their high viscosity index ensures effective lubrication at high temperatures. 


• Very good resistance to corrosion and rusting. 

• Excellent oxidation and high temperature stability. 

• Reduce fire risk. 

• Excellent air separation and minimum foaming tendency. 

Compressor Oils 

Application 

Glytech series oils are recommended for single and multistage air compressors and are particularly effective for continuous high temperature arduous 

operation with exhaust temperatures up to 220 o C. They are suitable for both reciprocating and rotary type machines, although the lower viscosity grades 

will be used mainly in rotary compressors. 

Glytech Syn SR 46 & 68 are synthetic lubricants for rotary screw compressors and turbocharger applications. 

Glytech Syn SR 100 are synthetic di-esther lubricants for reciprocating compressors with high discharge temperatures.

The Hydrol-TO lubricants are premium performance circulating lubricants designed for applications including steam and hydro turbine sets and other 

systems where long lubricant service life is required. The lubricants are formulated from highly refined base stocks and an additive system which provide 

an extremely high level of chemical and thermal stability, rapid and complete separation from water and a high resistance to emulsification. 


• Excellent protection against wear, rust, corrosion and gives lower operating costs. 

• Exceptional chemical and oxidation stability demulsibility and optimal oil life. 

Turbine Oils 

Application 

Specific applications include: 

• Land-based and marine steam turbine, hydro turbine and some gas turbine circulation systems, including pumps, valves and other ancillary equipment 

• Continuous service in plain & roller bearings and parallel shaft gearing. 

• Turbines with oil supplied by splash, bath, ring oiling or other mechanical means . 

• Moderate severity hydraulic pumps. 

• Compressors and vacuum pumps handling air and inert gases, and with discharge temperatures not exceeding 15°c.

Cutwell is a soluble low viscosity, highly refined mineral oil containing active sulphur, chlorine and 

other load-bearing extreme pressure additives so as to prolong tool life, give good surface finish, reduce 

foaming and increased efficiency. 


• High oil content emulsion gives excellent machining on ferous and non ferous metals including aluminium and yellow metal alloys. 

Application 

Cutwell is manufactured for general metal working as well as to meet exact requirements found in deep hole boring, trepanning, drilling and gear 

cutting operations. It can also be used for tapping, threading and other heavy operations on automatic lathes.

Lubrication of both cylinders and bearings of reciprocating refrigeration compressors with all types of refrigerants except HFC-134A, similar HFCs and

Synthetic industrial lubricant developed specifically for refrigeration compressors and 

formulated for severe service under conditions that are beyond the capabilities of conventional 

mineral oils.

• Reduces discharge valve deposits and improves compressor efficiency. 

Application 

• Lyxol Arctic S 68 is designed for reciprocating refrigeration systems with very high compressor discharge temperatures but is also suitable for screw 

compressors and for use with systems incorporating very low evaporative temperatures.

Spinol Oils are formulated from stable, low viscosity, light coloured basestocks and a balanced additive package. They contain rust and oxidation 

inhibitors, lubricity additive, and a defoamant. Their high viscosity indexes allows for precise control of feed rates in lubricators where temperatures vary 

widely. May be applied by misting, drip feed, force feed, or wick feed, as well as by hand oiling.

Marine engine Oil 

Oilibya offer a wide range of marinegard engine oils, system, cylinder and crankcase lubricants 

for use in highly rated high, medium and slow speed engines using residual fuels and distillate 

fuels. They have a wide range designed for various fuel types including engines using fuels of 

up to 3.5% sulphur content. Marinegard oils are blended with select high viscosity base Oils and
