Greetings college rel<strong>at</strong>ions officers, corpor<strong>at</strong>e recruiters, and career day supporters:<br />

he <strong>Southern</strong> <strong>University</strong> Office of Career Services is gearing up for its Fall 2012 Career<br />

Explor<strong>at</strong>ion Day to be held, Wednesday, September 12, in the <strong>Southern</strong> <strong>University</strong>, B<strong>at</strong>on <strong>Rouge</strong>,<br />

Felton G. Clark Activity Center. We are excited about this year’s activities and are looking<br />

forward to you sharing the wonderful career opportunities available with the <strong>University</strong>’s corpor<strong>at</strong>e<br />

partners. We are also excited to showcase the <strong>University</strong>’s most valuable assets - OUR STUDENTS.<br />

The goals of this semester’s Career Explor<strong>at</strong>ion Day activities are to:<br />

• Make SU students and alumni aware of the career opportunities available to them,<br />

• Offer workshops and seminars to help students prepare for full-time employment, and<br />

• Increase the number of students obtaining cooper<strong>at</strong>ive employment, internships, and<br />

full-time employment<br />

Other Career Explor<strong>at</strong>ion activities include:<br />

The Youth Motiv<strong>at</strong>ion Task Force (YMTF), which allows successful professionals from various<br />

backgrounds to interact with SU students and introduce them to priv<strong>at</strong>e and public sector job<br />

experiences. Youth Motiv<strong>at</strong>ion Task Force activities will take place September 5 - 6, 2012.<br />

To register for YMTF activities, complete the <strong>at</strong>tached YMTF particip<strong>at</strong>ion form.<br />

The Business and Industry Cluster, which is a consortium of more than 40 local and n<strong>at</strong>ional<br />

companies th<strong>at</strong> have provided financial resources, equipment, human resources, and technical<br />

support to <strong>Southern</strong> <strong>University</strong> in an effort to grow and produce highly-qualified, job-ready students.<br />

Additional inform<strong>at</strong>ion on the Business and Industry cluster is <strong>at</strong>tached.<br />

The registr<strong>at</strong>ion fee for the Fall 2012 Career Explor<strong>at</strong>ion Day is $550 for a single booth and<br />

$1,050 for a double booth. Registr<strong>at</strong>ion forms are enclosed along with the Fall 2012 Activities<br />

agenda. All m<strong>at</strong>erials to be distributed during the career day must be shipped via Gulf Coast Event<br />

Services. See the enclosed forms for more inform<strong>at</strong>ion. Please be aware th<strong>at</strong> the SU Office of<br />

Career Services is not responsible for any packages not shipped through Gulf Coast Event Services.<br />
