St Matthew’s Choir rehearses every Thursday from 7.30 to 9.30pm at
St Matthew’s Church. We welcome singers of all abilities, however we
are currently experiencing a shortage of tenors and basses which restricts
the range of music we can perform. There are no auditions or
fees and we always go to the pub afterwards! Gentlemen, St Matthew’s
Choir needs you! Please consider joining us and encourage your friends
to do likewise.
Telephone the Choir Manager on 020 8998 2879,
or email: manager@smce.org.uk for more information.
Thanks
To the Vicar of St Matthew’s, Peter Watkins, for letting us use the church
for rehearsals and performances, and to the technical crew, front of house
helpers and everyone who has helped us behind the scenes.
Hark The Herald Angels Sing
F. Mendelssohn
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled:
Joyful all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies,
With angelic hosts proclaim
Christ is born in Bethlehem:
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ the Everlasting Lord,
Late in time, behold him come,
Offspring of a virgin’s womb,
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see,
Hail the incarnate Deity!
Pleased as man with man to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel:
Hark the herald angels sing,
Glory to the newborn King.
Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and Life to all he brings,
Risen with healing in his wings;
Mild he lays his glory by,
Born that man no more may die,
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth:
Hark the herald angels sing,
Glory to the newborn King.
We Wish you a Merry Christmas
