Fees Fees for Licensed Venues and Spring Terrace Saturdays and Sundays need to be paid in advance, approximately 6 weeks before the ceremony. You can do this in person or by post. If you are paying by cheque you will need to send two separate cheques. One for the ceremony and a separate cheque for your certificate(s). If you are paying your fees in person you may also pay by switch or debit card. Unfortunately this is not possible for postal payments. Fees for 1 Spring Terrace Monday to Friday ceremonies are paid on the day of the ceremony either by cheque or cash (see above Saturdays). Unfortunately we cannot accept credit/debit cards on the day. All cheques should be made payable to ‘The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames’. Please telephone or email the Richmond Register Office for any advice. Book well in advance to secure the date and time you want. Remember you can book up to a year in advance. You must give notice at least 16 days before the date of the ceremony. A notice of marriage is valid for one year from the date it is given. You both have to give notice. If you live in different districts you each have to attend your local office. If either one of you is subject to immigration control, you must both give notice at a designated Register Office. Make sure your documents are originals not photocopies. Remember a civil ceremony can have no religious connotations. We welcome your comments so please feel free to give us feedback.
