ORDERING UNIFIED CISCO SURVIVABLE REMOTE SITE TELEPHONY (SRST)
Cisco Unified SRST is a feature in Cisco IOS software operating on specific routers. Each router operating Cisco Unified SRST requires a
feature license when deployed in a production environment.
Cisco Unified SRST is only available to authorized partners holding one of the following certifications; IP Communications Express
Specialization, IP Communications Specialization, or IP Tel Revised.

Checklist of Components required for a complete Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony IP Telephony Solution
Cisco Unified SRST Supported Router running supported version of IOS.
Cisco Unified SRST Feature License for the number of phones to be deployed.
Optional Voice Modules for connectivity to the PSTN or host PBX.
DSP Resources for PSTN to IP connectivity
Optional Cisco Unity Express voice mail module
Unified IP Phones with Cisco Unified CallManager User License
Optional Router SMARTnet Maintenance Contract
Customers are encouraged to order a Cisco Unified SRST Bundle for ease of ordering and discount advantages, see section 1 below. If a
bundle is not used, components can be ordered separately, see section 2 below.
1. Ordering a Cisco Unified SRST Router Bundle
A select number of Cisco Unified SRST Router Bundles are available preconfigured with a Cisco Unified SRST Feature License,
DRAM/Flash Memory, IOS Feature Set to support the solution, and DSP resources to support Cisco Unified SRST for 24-720 phones.

Order a Cisco Unified SRST supported router with a Cisco Unified SRST feature supported Cisco IOS Software image.
Supported routers include: 1760, 1760-V, 2691, and 2600XM, 2800, 3700, 3800, and 7200 series access routers.
Cisco Unified SRST 3.4 requires Cisco IOS Release 12.4.(4)T. Cisco Unified SRST 4.0 requires IOS Release 12.4(4)XC. The
recommended voice release for most customers today is 12.3(11)T or 12.4 mainline. Cisco Unified SRST requires IOS Feature set IP
Voice or higher. Refer to the Cisco Feature Navigator for past and current version information on the correct Cisco IOS Software image
with support for Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony.
If deploying Secure Cisco Unified SRST you must select IOS Feature Set Advanced IP Services or Advanced Enterprise Services, 12.4
mainline or higher.

2. (b) Ordering Cisco Unified SRST Feature Licenses
A Cisco Unified SRST feature license is included when purchasing a Cisco Unified SRST bundle as explained above.
If ordering separately or to add Cisco Unified SRST feature to an existing router, or to add additional phone feature license support; select
the appropriate Cisco Unified SRST feature license from Table 3 below. If using the Dynamic Configuration tool choose the correct license
under “Feature License for IP Telephony” menu.
Feature Licenses can be combined to reach a specific phone requirement..
Customers ordering Cisco Unified SRST Feature License will receive Feature License Letter and Cisco Unified SRST user guides. For
proof of purchase customers should retain Feature License Letter plus copy of Invoice.
Customers who purchase a Cisco Unified CallManager Express (CME) feature license (FL-CCME-xxxx) can deploy Cisco Unified SRST
for the same number of phones purchased without notification or re-licensing to Cisco Systems, Inc. Customers who need additional phone
support need just buy additional Cisco Unified SRST Feature License up to the maximum supported on the router. Feature licenses can
also be transferred from one router to another without notification or re-licensing fee.

3. Verify Memory Requirements
Ensure that you have met the minimum Flash and DRAM memory requirements recommended to support Cisco Unified SRST. Additional
memory is recommended to support future releases of this product. The Dynamic Configuration Tool will not accept an Cisco Unified
SRST order with insufficient Flash or DRAM memory selected. Memory requirements are based on common configurations only. A large
number of phones, PSTN modules and complex configurations may require more memory then recommended.

4. Adding PSTN Modules
Add analog or digital PSTN modules to meet customer requirements for voice connectivity. Details on the different modules please refer
to: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/modules/ps3115/prod_module_series_home.html.
Customers deploying Cisco Unified SRST sites should reference the Cisco Unified CallManager Network Design Guides (SRND)
available internally and on CCO for deployment models and configuration guidance.
5. DSP Resources for PSTN to IP Connectivity
The High-Density Packet Voice digital signal processor (DSP) Module (PVDM2) enables Cisco Systems Integrated Services Routers to
provide high-density voice connectivity, conferencing, and transcoding capabilities in Cisco ® Unified IP Communications solutions. DSP
Resources are required for connecting existing telephony equipment (such as private branch exchanges [PBXs], Key systems, analog
telephones, and fax machines) or to the PSTN.
DSP resources can also be used for conferencing and transcoding saving WAN bandwidth to the remote Cisco Unified SRST site. The
high-density packet voice DSP modules are available in five versions: PVDM2-8, PVDM2-16, PVDM2-32, PVDM2-48, and PVDM2-64.

6. Adding Cisco Unity Express Voice Mail
If Voice Mail is desired, add Cisco Unity Express by selecting part number NM-CUE or AIM-CUE plus the required software package(s).

7. Order Cisco Unified IP Phones and Cisco Unified CallManager Phone User License
When ordering Cisco Unified IP phones controlled by Cisco Unified CallManager at remotes sites with Cisco Unified SRST, you must
purchase the phone and appropriate Unified CallManager User/device license. These licenses are available in the Dynamic Configuration
Tool using the Unified IP Phone part number. Customers who initially purchase Cisco Unified CallManager Express User license can be
deployed with Cisco Unified CallManager at main site or remote Cisco Unified SRST site(s).
8. Technical Support Services
Cisco offers two types of maintenance contracts for customers; SmartNet for the Cisco Router and IOS Software, and Software Application
Support plus Upgrades (SAS-U) for the Cisco Unified CallManager Telephony Application. Support for the Cisco Unified SRST telephony
application is covered under the customers centralized Cisco Unified CallManager SAS-U contract.
A SMARTnet contract covers the router hardware, installed modules, Cisco IOS software and upgrades.
No SAS-U SRST SKU’s are in use today.
9. Applications and Migration to Cisco Unified SRST
Customers who initially deploy or purchase a Cisco Unified CallManager Express (CME) solution, the CME Feature License includes a
provision to use the feature license for Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) mode without an additional charge or re-
licensing to Cisco. Customers only need to re-configure the router for Cisco Unified SRST mode. If additional phones to be supported with
Cisco Unified SRST are required beyond the current Cisco Unified SRST license, then additional Cisco Unified SRST feature licenses
(FL-SRST-XXXX=) must be purchased to support the maximum per platform type.
Customers who want to use Gatekeeper functionality or Tandem Gateway for support of H.450 in front of Cisco Unified CallManager need
to do so on a dedicated router. These features are not supported on the Cisco Unified SRST enabled router. Customers should order proper
sized router and Integrated Voice and Video Services Feature License, which offers Gatekeeper, IPtoIP Gateway and Tandem Gateway
(H.450) support in one feature license.
