Tabletop Theatre<br />

Tabletop puppetry, a variation of bunraku (the traditional Japanese<br />

style of overt puppetry), is a hallmark of all Thistle Theatre<br />

productions. This workshop allows you to experience first-hand this<br />

challenging and rewarding style of puppetry!<br />

Bringing Picture Books to Life<br />

Through Shadow <strong>Puppetry</strong><br />

This hands-on, interactive workshop is geared toward anyone<br />

working with preschool-aged children. learn about puppet design,<br />

building, and manipulation, as well as how to create a shadow screen<br />

and simple scenery.<br />

learn about different puppet traditions from around the world<br />

during this exploration of the rich culture of puppetry. Celebrate<br />

Watch authentic and replica puppets come to life during this<br />

entertaining and educational hands-on presentation.<br />

Puppet Slam Primer<br />

Presented by Beau Brown, Host/Curator,<br />

National Puppet Slam (2011, 2012) and<br />

Host/Producer, Puckin’ Fuppet Show (Atlanta, GA)<br />

Puppet Slam (noun): A curated collection of short-<strong>for</strong>m pieces of adult<br />

puppet theater. After discussing what makes a great Slam piece,<br />

participants will divide into groups to brainstorm and develop their<br />

own short works.<br />
