agreement to purchase wraparound care prior
to your child taking up a wraparound care
place. This will be a legal contract between
you and Renfrewshire Council.

Purchasing Wraparound Care
Parents or carers can access wraparound care by
purchasing additional sessions or additional hours
before or after their child’s pre-school education
entitlement, to support employment, training or
education.
The service is provided within the current opening
hours of each establishment:
• • pre-five centres – extended day and in some,
an extended year
• • nursery classes – school hours and term time
Parents or carers can also purchase a nursery place
for children aged 0–3 years of age in pre-five
centres, to support employment, training or
education.
Access to wraparound care is dependent on the
availability of places in nurseries, with priority
given to families on low income, in receipt of
income support, income based job seekers
allowance or working tax credits.
How do I apply for
wraparound care?
You should contact the head of the nursery to
discuss your request and you will be asked to
complete an ‘application for wraparound care
form’ providing details of your requirements.
Application forms can also be obtained from
Renfrewshire Council’s website.
Your application will be considered by the head of
establishment in the first instance. Any placement
offered will require to be approved by the central
admissions panel which is responsible for the
allocation of places. The head of establishment
will inform you of the outcome of your request.
How much does wraparound
care cost and how am I charged?
You will be charged at the current rate for
wraparound care. The head of establishment
will inform you of the rate.
You will be eligible to apply for the current council
concession rate if you are a:
• student in full time education
• in receipt of any of the following benefits
• pension tax credit
• income support
• job seeker’s allowance
• full working tax credit
• disability tax credit
• housing benefit
• council tax benefit
• employment and support allowance
• disability living allowance
• attendance allowance
You will be invoiced on a 4 weekly cycle and you
can make payments through the following
methods:
• council offices
• post office
• telephone payments
• nursery vouchers
