<strong>Perform</strong> <strong>with</strong> <strong>VSO</strong> Pops April 28<br />

Former <strong>STYX</strong> Lead Singer Recreates 30 Years of Musical His<strong>to</strong>ry,<br />

Backed by Full Orchestra<br />

Hamp<strong>to</strong>n Roads… The Virginia Symphony Pops<br />

closes the 2011-2012 season <strong>with</strong> a symphonic<br />

rock experience, combining the impact of a full<br />

orchestra <strong>with</strong> the edge of a rock band. Former<br />

<strong>STYX</strong> lead vocalist <strong>Dennis</strong> <strong>DeYoung</strong> has one of<br />

the most recognizable voices in the music<br />

world, and he will take center stage <strong>with</strong> the<br />

<strong>VSO</strong> Pops for a journey through the 70s, 80s<br />

and 90s <strong>with</strong> classic hits such as “Lady,” “Babe,”<br />

“Come Sail Away,” “Mr. Robo<strong>to</strong>,” “Grand<br />

Illusion,” “Lorelei,” “Suite Madame Blue,”<br />

“Rockin’ The Paradise,” “Don’t Let it End,” plus<br />

many more, including solo works and new<br />

music.<br />

In recent years, <strong>DeYoung</strong>’s songs have<br />

appeared in movies and television shows, including: Sofia Coppola’s Virgin Suicides; Adam<br />

Sandler’s Big Daddy and 8 Crazy Nights; New Line Cinema’s Detroit Rock City; DreamWorks’ Old<br />

School starring Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn; Comedy Central’s South Park, NBC’s ED and ER;


ABC’s Still Standing and CBS’ The King of Queens. Volkswagen turned “Mr. Robo<strong>to</strong>” in<strong>to</strong> a funny<br />

national commercial featuring two Wayne’s World-type guys “jamming” <strong>to</strong> the song.<br />

Recently, <strong>DeYoung</strong> wrote and recorded a song for his wife Suzanne’s soon <strong>to</strong> be published book<br />

A Love Fore<strong>to</strong>ld. The book, accompanied by the new release, is currently available at<br />
