placed on a wait list. Only negative is that footsteps are

morning, but otherwise quiet and private. Snow plowing in
winter is varied and unreliable for outdoor parking.”
× “Lack of response to maintenance or service requests.”
× “During Christmas, many UPS and FedEx boxes were stolen
since they were not left in the building management office.
Mgmt. has now fixed this so that deliveries are accepted at
the front desk.”
× “Poor fire alarms, serious lack of heat.”
× “Fairview manor is very old and overpriced. They also state
in their lease that they keep $300 of your security deposit
for cleaning. This is a huge overcharge and most people's
apartments don't actually get cleaned before they move
out. Essentially Fairview just pockets the money.”

existing snow removal, unresponsive landlords.”

The Commons/ Downtown
The Commons is the downtown of Ithaca. It is a vibrant area, and is where many local events take place. Living here,
you will be close to many shops, restaurants, and bars.
There is a lot of housing available in this area. From our survey results, students in the Commons/ downtown are
generally satisfied with their landlords. Also, the rent is, on average, cheaper than housing options closer to campus.

Collegetown
Located close to campus and walking distance to Sage Hall, Collegetown contains a lot off the school’s nightlife. There
are also plenty of restaurant and bars located in collegetown.

Miscellaneous
There are a lot of other housing options available in Ithaca. Many of them can be better and/or cheaper than the
popular housing already discussed in this guide.
In general, to the west of campus (Fall Creek and beyond) and to the north are single family homes. Their prices are
much cheaper than Collegetown or the Commons but students living in these areas tend to drive.
