FUNDING
Federal Financial Aid
Federal financial aid will help you as a graduate
student pursuing a master’s or education
specialist degree at UCM. Aid can be used toward
the cost of tuition, books or other living expenses
so you can focus on attaining your degree.
You must be fully admitted into a graduate degree
program and enrolled at least on a half-time basis
(four graduate credit hours during the fall and
spring semesters) to receive assistance from the
Stafford loan federal aid programs.
The Stafford loan program provides a low-interest
loan assistance that usually does not have to
be repaid until after completion of your degree
program.
Graduate Adviser
Once you are admitted to a graduate program,
a faculty member in your department will be
appointed as your graduate adviser. Your graduate
adviser will help you plan your program of study
and provide advice to you as you progress through
graduate school.
Graduate Assistantships
Many students use graduate assistantships
to provide financial support while gaining
valuable professional experiences in their field
of study. Duties vary depending on the type of
assistantship, but include areas such as: teaching,
laboratory, research, administration and student
engagement. Each department appoints its own
graduate assistant.
