■ Tommy Gate is proud to present the G 2 dual drive - the
next generation TOMMY LIFT ® . These models continue the
commitment to quality and durability that the company has maintained
since 1965. The G 2 is a heavy-duty dual cylinder design
liftgate available to fit most service and utility truck bodies.
The G 2 Series is also available for Pickup Lift applications (see
separate literature).
The Power of 2
■ A benefit of the dual cylinder design is a robust and more powerful
liftgate. The G 2 Series uses direct power on both sides of the platform
so lifting and lowering is smooth, stable and even.
Single-cylinder direct liftgates lift with power from only one side; the
platform on a single-cylinder system can torque or twist.
Streamlined uprights
allow for a wide opening
into the truck bed.
Heavy Duty
■ The heavy duty Tommy Gate G 2 Service/Utility Body Series is
available with lifting capacities of 1300 or 1600 lbs.
The standard steel G 2 platform features a Treadplate surface.
Adding an oversized platform (see page 5) will not derate (lower)
the liftgate’s lifting capacity.
Exactly What You Need
■ The G 2 liftgate can be used to move everything from oil drums to
vending machines. A variety of optional platform sizes and materials
are available (see page 5) to accommodate many applications.
Main Frame Box
The Main Frame Box contains the electrical
and hydraulic systems.
✸ Full-size pump and motor unit
✸ A Pressure Relief Valve helps prevent
overloading the platform.
✸ Cylinder-mounted Flow Control Valves
prevent rapid uncontrolled platform descent in
the event of a hose failure.
✸ The cover can be removed with platform
up or down.

Original Series Liftgates
The industry leader since 1965, the Tommy Gate Original Series hydraulic
liftgate continues to be a leader in quality and value. Original Series liftgates
are also available for many other styles of truck bodies (see back cover).

✚ The Main Frame Box section of the liftgate contains the electrical and hydraulic systems. The Box cover protects the systems
from the elements and is easily removable. Enclosed within the Box is the following standard equipment:
✚ A Pressure Relief Valve helps prevent overloading the platform.
✚ A Cylinder-mounted Flow Control Valve prevents a rapid, uncontrolled platform descent in the event of a hose failure.
✚ A full-size pump and motor unit powers the liftgate.
✚ Platforms are available in Treadplate Steel, Extruded Aluminum, Smooth Steel or Tommy Traction (steel grating) (see page 5).

✚ Fits truck bodies with 54 to 64 inch openings (see page 6).
✚ Treadplate Steel 1-piece platform (36" loading depth)
✚ Extruded Aluminum 1-piece platform has a 37" loading
depth with a 5-inch taper.
The folding F11 extension adds 11 inches of
loading depth (plus a 4-inch taper) to the platform.
The F11 folding extension is standard with
Extruded Aluminum platforms and optional
with Smooth or Treadplate Steel platforms.
A Torsion Assist Bar is built into each platform
with an F11 to assist in closure.

❖ Double-walled construction for strength.
❖ Aluminum resists weather-related corrosion (rust-resistant) - painting is not required on the platform.
❖ Aluminum Platforms are an ideal surface for placing company signage or advertising.
