Tim Wade
Vice President, Student Affairs
Tim is in his 34 th year at Interlochen, beginning in 1979 as a guidance
counselor for the Academy. He has also served as director of the counselorin-training
program for Camp, assistant director of Interlochen Arts Academy,
dean of student services, dean of education, and vice president for education
programs/student services. He is a graduate of Western Michigan University
(B.A. in education, and M.A. in counseling and personnel). He has been a
licensed professional counselor since 1993. Tim is responsible for student
services, including residence life, counseling and psychological services,
student discipline, recreation and physical education, health and wellness.
Tim serves on the board of directors for the Arts Schools Network and the
Traverse City Kiwanis Club. He is married to Vicki, an elementary educator,
and they are the parents of two daughters, both educators and alumnae of
the Arts Academy and Arts Camp.

Jennifer Wesling
Dean of Students
Jennifer first came to Interlochen in the summer of 1980 as a Counselor-in-
Training (CIT) and has only missed one summer since. She has a Bachelor
of Science in Elementary and Computer Education from Indiana University,
and a Master of Arts in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State
University, Bowling Green, OH. Jennifer has served Interlochen year around
in a variety of positions including Residence Hall Counselor, Residence Hall
Manager, Guidance Counselor, and Director of Administrative Services. She
has served as the Dean of Students since 1999.
Jennifer's camp experience began at the age of 8 at day camp in Indiana and
she moved on to sleep-away camp where she learned camp songs and
games that she still sings and teaches others. At Interlochen, Jennifer has
served as a CIT, cabin counselor, unit leader and assistant director all in
Intermediate Girls. She has also worked as the recreation manager, sailing
instructor and staff housing manager.

Lisa Melnyk
Coordinator of Leisure Arts
Lisa Melnyk began her career at Interlochen Arts Camp in 1994 as a cabin
counselor. She worked four summers in the All State division before moving
into the Recreation Department to work as the Waterfront Manager, a position
she held for the next eleven seasons.
Lisa began working at Interlochen Arts Academy in 2006. Following various
substitute, temporary, and interim appointments in the Education, Health
Services, and Human Resources Departments, she became the Coordinator
of Leisure Arts in 2008. In her own words, "I'm in charge of fun and good
toys!" This is Lisa's 20th camp summer!!!

Tim Baase
Coordinator of Camp Life
Tim began working in the Junior Boys Division of Interlochen Arts Camp in
2010. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Performance from
Central Michigan University. Tim spent the last year as a Residence Hall
Counselor in DeRoy at Interlochen Arts Academy. After a very cold winter, he
is excited to dive back into camp mode.
Though he hated it as a child, Tim discovered the power of summer camp
during his first counseling job at the age of 15. Since then, he has worked in a
variety of camp settings before falling in love with Interlochen. Tim is an
Interlochen history buff and has a large collection of artifacts that he loves to
share with others. This summer, he will serve as the Coordinator of Camp
Life before heading to New York City to pursue a performance career full
time.

Daniel VonHolten
Director of Junior Boys

Allie Jannette
Director of Junior Girls
Allie spent her first summer at Interlochen as the IGL Assistant Director in
2011. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education
and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin--Madison. In addition to
Interlochen, Allie has worked at a number of camps including Lutheran
Summer Music Academy and UW-Madison Summer Music Clinic. Although
she had some amazing experiences outside of Interlochen, she couldn't stay
away!
Allie is currently finishing her first year of teaching at Clearwater Middle
School in Waconia, MN. She teaches sixth and seventh grade bands as well
as fifth through eighth grade small-group lessons.

Annette Puleo
Director of Intermediate Boys
Annette first came to Interlochen in the summer of 2011 as Director of
Intermediate Boys Division. She has a Master of Arts in Special Education
and a Master of Arts in Exercise Science/ Physical Education from Michigan
State University. During the school year Annette teaches Earth Science,
Biology, US History, World History and Career classes to 8th - 12th grade
students; in Lansing MI, for Ingham Intermediate School District.
Annette's camp experience began as a counselor for children ages 5-15 at a
YMCA day camp in Utica NY. Annette has also had the pleasure of directing
"Camp Puleo" for three years for children ages 6 - 12. Before she came to
Interlochen she spent several summers directing "Family Camp" for
Edgewood United Church.

Allegra Smith
Director of Intermediate Girls Lakeside
Allegra was a counselor, unit leader, and assistant director in Intermediate
Girls from 2005-2009, and returned to Intermediate Girls Lakeside as Director
in 2011 and 2012. She graduated with a Bachelors in Music Performance
and Education from Ithaca College and a Masters in Clarinet Performance
from the University of Colorado Boulder. She has been a middle school band
teacher in Middletown, NY for 3 years.
Allegra's first camp experience was at a Girl Scout day camp. She came to
Interlochen as a very homesick just-finished 6th grade camper. After a long
week when she was convinced she wouldn't survive, her camp experience
was turned around by her first Intermediate Band concert and a postcard from
her counselor Jen saying congratulations and that camp only got better after
the first week. She then returned to Interlochen as a camper for a total of 4
Intermediate summers and 1 High School summer- proof that homesickness
is survivable!

Beth Lewis
Director of Intermediate Girls Meadows
Beth has had a wide variety of Interlochen experiences over the past 30
years. Her first experience was as a High School camper. She returned
during college to spend a summer working in the Scholarshop. After a long
hiatus Beth was able to enjoy Interlochen again as a member of the Music
Faculty in 2005. After transitioning to the Camp Life side of Interlochen, she
worked as Office Manager for Intermediate Boys, Beth is very excited to be
returning as the Director of IGM.
Beth has a Master of Music Education degree from Central Michigan
University and has worked as a 6-12 Band Director in Holt, Michigan for the
past 20 years. She also leads the percussion studio, directs an ensemble,
and teaches music appreciation courses at Lansing Community College.
Beth's other camp experience include five years as a Music Director for the
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

Andy Jensen
Director of High School Boys
This will be Andy's first time at Interlochen, but he's excited to spend the
summer in "the land of the pines!" Andy has been in numerous education and
camp settings throughout the course of his life including counseling roles at
Green Lake Bible Camp and Lutheran Summer Music Academy, as well as
an assistant program director at GLBC.
Andy is finishing his fourth year of teaching, the first two were in Ivanhoe,
Minnesota (where he taught 5-12 instrumental music) and the past two in
Dodge Center, Minnesota where he primarily teaches 8-12 band.
Andy graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and is
working on completing his master's degree in music education from the
University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.

Michelle Hartwig
Director of High School Girls
Michelle started working at Interlochen as a cabin counselor in 2005. She
has a Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University and
plans to begin her Masters in Arts Administration at The University of
Michigan - Flint in the fall . During the school year, she teaches Kindergarten
through Eighth Grade General music in Flint, Michigan. She has also taught
general music and orchestra in Buckeye, Arizona. Michelle served
Interlochen year-round as a Residence Hall Counselor for the 2008-2009
school year.
Michelle's sleep-away camp experience began as a 12-year-old, and she has
been to at at least one camp nearly every summer since then. At Interlochen,
Michelle has served as a cabin counselor, unit leader and assistant director
all in High School Girls division. This her second summer as the Director of
High School Girls.

Ellen West
Director of Institutes
Ellen West has a B.A.A. in Outdoor and Environmental Recreation from
Central Michigan University. Her interests lie primarily with canoeing,
kayaking, backpacking, and being outside. She began at Interlochen as the
Recreation Manager in the summer of 2009 and has since served as the
Intermediate Girls Meadows director, Manager of Picasso during the
Academy year, and is now the Director of Institutes.
Ellen's grew up in Michigan and her passion for working in the outdoors
began in elementary school when she first went to summer camp. She went
back for 8 years and then began working at different summer camps. After
finishing college, Ellen worked primarily with high school aged at-risk youth.
She was thrilled to find Interlochen- a place that combines her appreciation
for the arts and her love for the outdoors.
