A New Day
Black
for the
Church
People are tired of tradition. God is calling
all of us to become relevant and missional.
By Stacy Hilliard
The term missional has become a buzzword.
Corporations, churches, and even people claim
to be missional. But what is it? What does it
mean to be missional? And how does that word
apply to the church, and more specifically, to the
IPHC?
Jesus was intentional when he said, “I go and
prepare a place for you … that where I am, there
you may be also” ( John 14:3, NKJV). The power,
influence, and commitment to quantitatively
grow the kingdom of God were transferred to the
body of Christ––the church––in order to further
the mission of the gospel.
In other words, the missional mindset simply
means to be “on mission” in the community.
Having a missional mindset means engaging the
needs of the community. We are to be about the
Father’s business, carrying out his mission on
earth as we wait for His return.
