The Evangelism USA (EVUSA) Division of
the IPHC recently published God’s Mission: The
Mandate of the Church, a valuable resource
for any church leader who is serious about
adopting a missional mode of operation for his
or her congregation.
“As viewed by Evangelism USA, a true
missional church is one that consistently
reaches the local community, engages
their areas of influence with the Gospel,
participates in a national outreach, and
is actively engaged in world missionary
endeavors,” said Bishop Chris Thompson,
EVUSA executive director.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the
term missional, this book defines the missional
concept, outlines the biblical origin of the
missional mandate, and provides models of
the missional movement from a sampling of
IPHC churches across the nation.
The authors emphasize that this is not
merely a social justice platform, nor is it
an affront to long-established approaches
to ministry; rather, it is a call to the Church
to operate as God intended from the very
beginning.
“The missional message and mandate
requires us to focus on the unbeliever and
his lost condition. How can we reach him,
serve him, and share with him the good news

To this end, God’s Mission incorporates a plethora
of information: chapters authored by EVUSA team
members, which provide a foundation for the book;
a section featuring specific churches and how they
have incorporated this practice into their everyday
operation; and an extensive list of recommended
resources compiled by the team.
“This is an important book for the global IPHC
family. The congregations that are described, and
the insights gleaned through the efforts of Bishop
Thompson and others, provide a platform for the
IPHC as we continue a transition of the nature of the
