“Alle Menschen werden Brüder” - nicht erst seit Beethoven und Schiller
(und später auch John Lennon) kennt man diesen Gedanken. Etwas
ganz anderes ist es, wenn man diese Idee 1:1 auf der Straße umsetzen
möchte... die Mitmenschen reagieren dann gar nicht erfreut! Den Mut
und die Energie, diesen uralten Traum Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen,
kann man wohl nur in einer Manie aufbringen.
One fine day I was walking down the streets of my hometown
It’s a couple of years ago, still feels like yesterday
Walking in the streets a strange feeling arouse in me
A new emotion, exciting but frightening in a way
And it was good – Ooh good – And it was real
Everybody on the street was somehow familiar to me
Like I’d seen the faces and heard the voices somewhere sometimes
Maybe in a dream, maybe in some other life
I looked at them and knew them, I saw their fears and all their lies
And it was good – Ooh good – And it was real – The family feel
Every girl I saw she could have been my sister
Every boy I met he could have been my brother
Every man I saw he could have been my father
Every woman that I saw she could have been my mother
And it was good – Ooh good – And it was real – The family feel
But then I started hugging them
They didn‘t like it at all!
One man was just about to beat me up
So I stopped it, I stopped, ooh I stopped
Picture yourself walking down some street
It could be any town, it could be any other day
Walking in the streets you feel this flame rising in you
You see the ones around you in a brand new way
Wouldn’t it be good – Wouldn’t it be real
Wouldn‘t it be – The family feel
Sea of
Past
Sometimes I wonder why I keep on sailing
This ship I did not choose
Maybe it’s all a lesson in failing
I keep learning how to lose
Things and friends
I can’t believe another day passed by
Packed with tiny bits of void
All this time, all this time, all this time
I wish I knew to avoid
Things and friends
And all these moments
All these drops of time
Falling by – By and by
Coming from somewhere
Dripping away – Into the vast
Rising sea of past
Ein
melancholischer,
wert? Und was passiert eigentlich mit all diesen
Sometimes I wonder
why I‘m still moving
Towards an aim I‘ll never know
How many more lessons in losing
Will it take until I know
Things and friends
And all these moments
All these drops of time
Falling by – By and by
Coming from somewhere
Dripping away
Into the vast
Rising sea of past
You think I‘m crazy
At least you treat me so
Well, I‘m alright, boy
I just dare to say no
To some old habits
To some old lies
The more I talk to you
The less you smile
Digging for reactions
Checking out your unconcern
No time for indifference
So many boats left to burn
I Ain‘t
Blind
I ain‘t blind
You know that I can see
What‘s on your mind
It ain‘t no mystery to me
Eyes don‘t lie
There is no secrecy
It‘s all behind
The way you look at me
I keep on talking
You still don‘t understand
I can‘t believe it
Is this really the man
I always trusted
I always loved
I pray for clarity
From heaven above
Digging for reactions
Checking out your unconcern
No time for indifference
So many boats left to burn
I ain‘t blind
You know that I can see
What‘s on your mind
It ain‘t no mystery to me
Eyes don‘t lie
There is no secrecy
It‘s all behind
The way you look at me

Miles away – From the closest ones – Miles away – From the road they‘re on
Miles away – From your isle – Still miles away – From my aisles
I can wait – I know how to wait
To be there – To feel this – Once again
Miles away – Smiles away – Files away – A child away – A child away
I miss you – I miss you, too – I‘d love to hug you – I‘d love to comfort you
I can wait – I hope I can wait
To see you – To feel you – Once again
I do the best I can
Miles away – From the closest ones – Miles away – From the road they‘re on
Some building – Floor nine
Knock on the door – Just a couple of times
You’ll have to wait – For a little while
The ones with the keys – Are so busy all the time
In a locked room – You’re killing time
You‘re not let out – You don’t know why
Key y
You see the world – Go down the drain
You knew so well – What should be
changed
The iron
claw
Bends
your spine
Your tongue is pain
You cannot cry
You’ll have to wait – For a little while
The ones with the cure – Are so busy all the time
Some building – Floor nine
You see the world – You’re killing time – For a little while
For hours and hours
He’s sitting on a chair
By the window looking out
He doesn’t see a thing
Staring holes in the Sunday – Holes in the clouds
He rarely moves – And he barely says a word
He says things like “They have ways”
By the way he talks – By the way he walks
You can tell where he spends his days
Holes
Whenever they allow
He’s lying on his bed
In the corner looking up
He doesn’t see a thing
Staring holes in the ceiling – Holes in his life
Da starrt einer
Löcher in den Sonntag,
Löcher in die Decke und
He rarely moves –And he barely says a word
sieht doch nichts. Er spricht
He says things like
fast nichts und bewegt sich kaum,
“They have ways to make you talk” aber man fühlt, dass es in seinem
By the way he talks – By the way he walks Inneren tobt. An der Art, wie er
You can tell where he spends his days
redet und sich bewegt, können
Eingeweihte ablesen, wo er sich
And in the nights
gerade aufhält – es sind die
Oh these never ending nights
typischen Nebenwirkungen
The return of the phrases
mancher Medikamente.
The return of the faces
The return of the voices
The return of all the choices
A million questions
A billion suggestions
From unknown places
From unseen spaces
From in here – Or out there – From somewhere
See the man over there
He’s a dummy of a friend
He wants to say hello
He’s gonna shake my hand
Oh don’t come closer
It’s gonna be my end
But he steps right over
To touch my hand
And a million germs pass over
To my poor clean skin
All my pores are open
To let them all right in
Got to wash my hands
Till the germs are dead
Got to rub my skin
Until it’s fiery red
I can’t stand the dirt
That’s under my shirt
I didn’t have a shower
For an hour
Wash it off
Come water
And wash it all off of me
I have to spend my nights
In a germinating bed
Surrounded by mites
Who want to eat my sweat
And in these nights
And in this bed
I’m dealing with
The things unsaid
And a billion germs take over
On my poor clean skin
All my pores are open
To let them all right in
Got to wash my body
Till the germs are dead
Got to rub my skin
Until it‘s fiery red
I can’t stand the dirt
That’s under my shirt
I didn’t have a shower
For an hour
Wash it off
Come water
And wash it all off of me
Let me get out of here
Let me get out of my skin
Out of myself
Out of my soul
Out of my life
Out of here
Ein junger
Mann, eine
Begegnung in
einer psychiatrischen
Klinik.
Ich dachte
lange, er gehört
überhaupt nicht
an diesen
Ort, denn er
verhielt sich
völlig "normal“.
Bis ich
bemerkte, dass
er auffällig oft
im Waschraum
verschwand und
dann mit wundgescheuerten
Händen wieder
erschien.
Was auch
immer die
wirklichen
Probleme waren,
die seinen
Waschzwang
verursachten –
ich habe mir
die Freiheit
genommen, da
etwas hineinzuinterpretieren.
Lina’s been here for years
She can‘t remember how it was before
Life is a TV screen
She would never dare to ask for more
Soundless through the double glaze
She sees the jet planes
Fly away
Strange birds
Maggie on the corridor
On the circle of her endless race
Life is round the corner
She runs to catch it and she tries and tries
The ceiling is the sky
She jumps to touch it
And she’s lucky at times
Strange birds – Birds in a cage – Strange birds – Cage birds
Medicine book Bob talking
He knows all about the meds they use
Life is a symptom
He tells you smiling that you win when you lose
Been in and out for years
He knows these places
And all the blacks and blues
getroffen habe, genauer gesagt in München-Haar.

Viele Ehen, Partnerschaften
und Familien zerbrechen an
den nahezu übermenschlichen
Herausforderungen,
die eine Bipolare Störung
eines der Partner für eine
Beziehung mit sich bringen
kann. Dieser Text versucht,
die Situation nach so einer
Katastrophe aus der Sicht
eines Kindes zu schildern,
das nicht begreifen kann,
was da vor sich geht.
He don’t sleep here anymore
He don’t eat here anymore
Three round the table
But the chairs are for four
He don’t talk here anymore
He don’t laugh here anymore
Still I hope every moment
He’s gonna walk in through this door
He don’t live here
He don’t live here no more
When he said goodnight
That very last evening
He promised us so hard
To try everything
To be still here the next day
Next morning – He was gone
He don’t live here
[…] don’t live here no more
Four men came here that night
And they carried him to a car
And I dreamed of two red lights
Fading in the snow, in the dark
He don’t live here
He don’t live here no more
He don’t live here
Papa don’t live here no more
And I keep wondering why
I keep wondering why
I keep gathering round
My little seals
Keep collecting
My little seals – All my seals
Das schreckliche, verzweifelte
und sich unablässig im Kopf
drehende suizidale Mantra, das
eine tiefe Depression begleiten
kann. So sehr man sich anstrengt,
diese um sich selbst kreisenden
Gedanken über alle möglichen
Arten des Notausgangs zu beenden –
sie entwickeln ein Eigenleben, auf das
man keinen Einfluss hat.
Lying on the tracks – Waiting for the train
……… A needle in my heart – Poison on my tongue – Fire on my skin – Water in my lungs – Standing on a bridge – Waiting for the storm – Blades in my flesh – A rope around my neck – Tires on my face – A gun between my lips –
Prayer
I can’t stop it
I’ve got to go for it
I can’t drop it
I can’t let go of it
I have to change my life
It’s got to be reorganized
I know how to change it all
I know to arrange it all
Man
It’s the best I ever felt
Man
It’s all I ever was
Man
It‘s all I ever wished to be
It’s me
Finally it’s me
I never felt that strong
I could go on and on now
There‘s no time to sleep
And there’s no need to eat
I can’t slow down
So many things to do
Brakes burning out
I’ll run over you
Man…
"Endlich bin ich wieder
ich! “ - diesen
Gedanken hatte ich
früher oft, wenn sich
eine neue Manie ankündigte,
gerade so,
als hätte ich vorher
nur geschlafen. Es
gehört zum Schwierigsten
im Umgang mit
der Bipolaren Störung,
diesem unglaublichen
Hochgefühl, dieser
unendlich scheinenden
Energie und dem
verführerischen Sog
einer Manie zu widerstehen
und diese
Phänomene als das
einzuordnen, was sie
in Wirklichkeit sind:
die Symptome einer
Erkrankung.
Finally
Me y
Die Erkrankung
zu akzeptieren, sich mit
ihr anzufreunden und sie in sein Leben
zu integrieren ist ein Prozess, der nicht
leicht fällt und Jahre, wenn nicht Jahrzehnte
beanspru- chen kann. Wenn
man die Scham, von einer psychischen
Erkrankung betroffen zu sein,
abgelegt hat, lebt es sich bedeutend
einfacher.
Schließlich weiß
man: Es kann jeder
und zu jeder
Zeit eine seelische
Krankheit entwickeln;
niemand kann sich in
absoluter Sicherheit
wiegen. Schon allein
deshalb gibt es
keinen Grund, sich
dafür zu schämen.
I spent so many years of my life in misery
Tied by silly questions like „why is it me?“
I felt hopeless and helpless and full of doubt
Caught in a vicious circle with no way out
But life is for learning
And the lessons were truly hard
The game started turning
When I played a different card
And nowadays I know:
I‘m different – I‘m special
I‘m worthy – I‘m precious
I‘m alright – I‘m just alright
Woke up one day, my life was a great big
mess
Everything torn to pieces, well, more or less
No friends, no family, no money, no flat
All was gone and no idea how to win it back
But life is for learning...
I‘m
Different
I was so ashamed all over these years
Driven to self-denial by so many fears
Such a shame to be called insane
Till I found out it‘s not me to blame
Helter skelter was the name of my life
Always waiting for the next flight or dive
Hurt so many people that were dear to me
Lost so many but some came back to me
Well, life is for learning...
